In some ways, The Commitments was more realistic to me. More gritty and tough. It's freaking HARD to keep a band together long enough to even have a shot at making it... and that's IF you all have the level of talent that you think you have

I saw John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown band play this live when they opened for Stevie Ray Vaughn. A special guest showed up and played a full set as well... Eddie & The Cruisers is a great musical drama movie from1983. The whole soundtrack is full of great songs such as "Tender Years", "Runaround Sue", "Down On My Knees" "Hang Up My Rock & Roll Shoes", "Betty Lou's Got A New Pair Of Shoes", "Wild Summer Nights" etc. Michael Paré plays the main character. All the singing & music is done by John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band. There is also a 2nd follow up movie.

Eddie and the Cruisers wasn't an actual band, it was a 1983 movie about a fictional 1960's rock n' roll band. Actor Michael Pare played the title role Eddie and he's shown on the album cover. However, he didn't do the singing, instead it was done by John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band. You can check out the film if you like or even react to it.

The movie, Eddie and the Cruisers, was made in the 1980's, but was set in the 1960's, hence the music vibe. One of the key points of the plot is that Eddie, the lead singer who also wrote songs, was ahead of his time when it came to music, and liked to experiment with different sounds. It really is a movie worth watching; it's cheesy, yes, but also has dark aspects in the story as well as a dark undertone running throughout. I don't see many people reacting to John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, who were the ones performing (John also wrote the song), so I'm really glad you took the chance and listened!

I have recorded both of them, don't have the heart to erase them, because both of them are good. The second one they switched up style of the songs and I like them better..I am particularly fond of the song they did called "Mariah" others are great too..they restarted "Eddie and the Cruisers" and had t second group on the movie, "Rock Solid," a great name for the new sound of John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band! The lead role is played by Michael Pare’ who also played the lead in this film Eddie and The Cruisers. Some great songs worth checking out fro streets of fire are Tonight is what it means to be young and Nowhere Fast by Fire Inc, I can dream about you by Dan Hartman, Never be you by Maria McKee and Sorcerer by Marilyn Martin. This would also be a great film to react to. It’s a bit cheesy but it was designed to be and that’s why it’s a cult classic in my eyes. 😊

Streets of Fire was a great movie. ' I can dream about you ' by Dan Hartman was one song I recall from the soundtrack. 80's Classic

The greaser's are a gang from the movie "The Outsider's" and while you're at it Other gang related movies of the time were "The Warriors" which you might have a listen to Joe Walsh's, written for the movie, "In The City" with the Eagles movie soundtrack. The Wanderer's was another gang related movie with a good soundtrack.

I remember being a teenager in HS, took a break from my minimum wage job at BK for the summer and worked at a Turkey Farm with some friends. I cleaned the gut pit, had to empty the horrible smelling lung tank, but listened to this song all summer long. My friend was knee deep in blood and feathers, almost like jello. Fun times. After work, we'd clean up, go over to a local camp ground and have a few drinks, or would cruise the country roads. Boozin' and cruizin'

Eddie and the cruisers is a movie (1983). There is also a sequel, Eddie and the cruisers 2 (1989). The music, for both movies, is all done by John Cafferty and the beaver brown band. I highly recommend checking out both movies! They're Great!! Check out some other songs of theirs like "Wild Summer Nights", "Down on my Knees", "Tender Years", "Just A Matter Of Time", "Pride & Passion", "Garden Of Eden", "NYC song", "Some Like It Hot". Their music is Timeless!! They are still Rockin' out and Touring.

@Asia and BJ - First and foremost: BJ, if you *haven’t* read “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton, then there’s a HUGE coincidence going on! It’s a movie, too. Anyway on first listen especially, this song definitely sounds like a Bruce Springsteen song. This band got a lot of flak once it was widely known it wasn’t by him. It’s so much fun watching you two rock out to the saxophone! That saxophone is 🔥 However, to me, people don’t seem to recognize - well, mention - the drums in this song! I LOVE the drum work in it!
