Normally I am very cynical and tend to dislike celebs, but John was cut from a different cloth. Perhaps because he was Canadian, but there seemed to be no pretense, none of that typical Hollywood phoniness that we are so accustomed. He was unique and is still very much missed by many, R.I.P. John, you left us way too soon…🙏

One of my favorite movies is Cool Runnings! His small role in Home Alone was also very memorable, and he was also very funny as the Cubs announcer in Rookie of the Year, which was strangely an uncredited role even though he appeared in many scenes!

When he died, I was shocked and very sad because I knew it would not be the same because he was so unique. I had no idea of his personal struggles. every time his movies come on TV I watch them. It's frightening that I am now older than J.C was when he died. My flatmate Brad died when he was 43 due to his substance use and his inherited heart disease. I never wept when I had deaths in the family, but I cried when I thought about the fact that Brad had brain damage due to lack of oxygen when his heart stopped. I'm sorry, I had to get this off my chest. 😢

I was born in 1985 and love his movies - I saw Cool Runnings, Home Alone, Rookie of the Year, and Rescuers Down Under in the theaters and watched a bunch of his other movies on VHS and TV so I was very aware of who he was when he passed, even at such a young age. Poor guy, he really was great.

I knew had a teacher who knew John when I worked in film. She said when he died she cried more at his funeral than at her own father’s. Basically went to say he was a sincerely beyond nice guy.

What a great comedic actor. Only The Lonely was a different role for John but he was brilliant in it and the movie was great. Planes, Trains and Automobiles makes me cry at the end and I don’t even cry at funerals. There’s just something about the final scene where he meets Steve Martin’s family. RIP John.
