@SordidBison I was passing through Catawba, NC on my way home Monday. There was a woman on the side of the road with a flat tire. Two men had already pulled over to help her and a police officer was just arriving. That many people in that tiny town (population around 700 and all back country roads) stopped to help. It warms my heart. I had my dad with me and I know he would have insisted on stopping to help but he's almost 76. Young men these days can take a few pointers from the older generations and of course the southern, country men. 😊

So many of my coworkers were amazed and asked me how I built it. My response "I lined a box with aluminum foil and hung a light in it." It really surprised me that something that simple seemed so impressive to them. A big part of that I feel is pretty much everything you could want is within walking distance in a city. Culture shock for me was realizing that in the South men have useful labor skills and in the rest of the country men *tend* to have useful financial skills. You win some and you lose some.

So I can relate to this I am from Colorado grew up in Utah and Texas and Washington State moved to the south when I was 18 and the men here are fabulous ladies I mean honestly I have married me a good old country boy then with him for 20 years now I love him so much he can do anything when I say anything I mean anything he is formidable and sexy and smart and does not need anybody to help him fix anything that tears up he don't call when something breaks he don't take his car or our car to go get the oil changed we do all of that ourselves love it if you want a real man you need to move to the south or just go get you one from the south and move back where you are

While allergies are real, and serious, and life threatening, I think his point was that as kids there didn’t seem to be too many people with them. It was asthma, and peanuts. Now it’s pretty much everything you can think of. Either people are weaker, or technology is better to detect such things.

@@kathyingram3061 And bad diet. Food that's an industrial product, not really food your body recognizes. Eliminating sugars and highly processed carbs completely will cure most allergies and asthma and diabetes. Try finding a Doctor of Nutrition. You'll be suprized by how much your MD. Doesn't know about what you should and should not eat.

Not all of us would be dead without our cell phones. I didn't have a cell phone until way after I was married. I got married in 1985. I was raised with a rotary phone,. analog clock, and know how to read map, do math with out a computer ane even figure taxes on what you spend while shopping.

I rented a car for the day and we went over to AutoZone got a thermostat that installed on side of road and we cruised up and down Ventura and sunset all day in style, Alabama Boy here!

Funny, I’ve been down south myself. Moved to LA in 2005. My girlfriend is from Northern California. Men are little different up there than men in Southern California. I think closer to what I am. One thing I’ve learned, most of the people I’ve met in Los Angeles would die within weeks of an apocalypse. They don’t know how to hunt or fish. They don’t know basic first aid and self-care. They can’t fix much of anything. Can’t fix an engine and I’m not talking about a computerized when I’m talking about a carbureted engine. They don’t know how to farm or forage. They don’t know how to take and regrow vegetables from portions of used vegetables. My girlfriend has stated as much with her experience as well. Plus a lot of the people I’ve met that are from Southern California, look older than me I’ll be in 10+ years younger than me.

Not to disagree with anything he said, but perhaps the qualifier aught to be rural, rather than just southern. If the local hardware stocks T-posts, welding gas, electrical distribution panels, and more than 4 kinds of animal feed, that would be a good indicator.
