Excellent video. Good practical knowledge base. I have owned my 2305 for several years and I learned a thing or two. A quick tip to you guys who remove the belly mower seasonally: Consider removing a rear tire and safely support the back of the tractor to make room to install the mid-PTO shaft. I have found that it really saves time and frustration this way. Stay well.

Thanks man, means a lot coming from somebody who has owned one of these for years. And great tip!

Great informative video! I have an 07 2305TLB. I had the same problem with my seat so I replaced it with the more comfortable seat used on the Xseries mowers. I have a small seat mounted for the backhoe. One of the best investments I ever made. Love my 2305!
@NoNonsenseKnowHow3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. And yeah that seat is definitely a pain in the butt. Thanks for the tip also, maybe I'll do the same. The little 2305 is a great machine

We have a long steep gravel driveway 20 percent grade in spots. Is it capable to grade it even if it takes longer? Would only use it for other smaller projects. Everyone says go bigger but ita so hard to find a good deal with a backhoe which we will definately use

One additional note would be the control for the bucket tilt position knob on the right floor. The knob that controls how the bucket is restricted in tilt.

Good video and wheel spacers are a plus on any of these especially with a backhoe which puts a lot of weight up high. Rolled mine just backing into a old stump hole filled with leaves about a foot deep, it went over in slow motion but lesson learned.

Thanks, Buddy! I acquired my 2008? John Deere 2305 TLB on my 60th birthday in 2009. I removed the 200 CX Front end Loader (FEL) for the very first time the other day, to repair a diesel fuel leak on the engine. I 'Should' have taken a photo of the color-coded quick-connects on the four hydraulic hoses that are connected to the FEL and their corresponding connections to the four quick-connect fitting on the tractor before disconnecting them. I had trusted John Deere to have properly matched the proper color-coded hose end caps with the same color-coded hose cap plugs on the coresponding quick connect hydraulic hose couplers on the tractor. I did not think that I needed to do that, and now I am paying for it. Long story short, the colors on the hose caps and their plugs on the quick connects at the tractor do not match. I have a total of four mismatched colors : red & blue hose caps and silver and green hose cap plugs. Following 'both' of the two different colored hose cap, hose plug and the four numbered connection coupler diagrams on page 45-5 in the John Deere Operator's Manual for the 200X and 200 CX Loaders, both result in the loader functions not working properly.

I have the same exact tractor with bucket and backhoe. The two flaws with this tractor are the seat (which you show in the vid) and lubing the drive shaft. I finally found an extended needle that I can now reach the fittings, but still a pain. Other than that, it has been a great little tractor.

I have a 2305 and was wondering on how much of a grade will the brakes hold? I made some wheel chalks for added safety that I can pull with ropes once I have put the tractor into reverse. Getting ready to set some 6x6x12 posts.

Just seen this video and it was a good introduction the 2006 2305 i just purchased. I do have 1 question about differential lock. to engage do you push down and hold or do you just push it down and it engages, then push it down a 2nd time to disengage? any info would be great. Thanks

I am embarking on rebuilding the hydraulic cylinders on the boom/lift of the FEL. I am looking for a KZbin on just this model because I think it's a bit different from the many other cylinders I am finding. Do you have a resource for this repair/rebuild? Thanks!

Have had a second hand 2305 of this age for six years - and it has begun to stall when engaging transmission. Problem is intermittent. Sometimes when just warmed up, never during a task, sometimes after downtime. Idling fine and oil level near full. Service not due for 60 hours. Been puzzling over hydrostatic transmission and swash plates using the manual. What do you think it could be?

Check your safety switch in your seat bottom, flop the seat four words and observe the two wires under the seat bottom, it requires an operator in the seat before you can go forward or reverse, the pressure switch in the seat could be faulty or just the adjacent connector making a bad connection. You will discover this also when you try to engage the PTO with no one sitting in the driver's seat like when using a wood chipper. You have to either put a weight on the seat or a manual cut out to defeat that safety switch. You can also check your safety switch if you are sitting in the operator's seat and the transmission is in forward or reverse momentarily lift your weight off the seat bottom and it will kill the engine.

Nice ! I have one with 344 hrs, but my PTOs stopped engaging a few days ago. It might be the PTO switch or solenoid? Any thoughts to narrow down and save a trip to the dealer? Thangs, great video. Wish I had some bees too. My wife and I plan to get some soon. Hello from foothills of N.C.
@NoNonsenseKnowHow3 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Yeah I would definitely start by checking if the switch is working and maybe try tapping the solenoid. The dealerships probably going to end up charging you a truckload of cash so I would try and figure it out as best you can before doing that. Appreciate you checking out the video. And thanks!

I've had my '08 for a month now. Has the 200X FEL, 64" belly mower & 3 pt. With a HF Quick Hitch. $11,500 but had to replace some of the brakes linkage parts that were bent & froze up. They cost me like $300. No complaints here though, it's a great little power pack.
