100 psi, That's almost 7 atmospheres! It's like a 350 Chevy putting out the power of a 2,380 cubic inch engine. Great video, thanks!
@fastst15 ай бұрын
Likely the cylinder pressure to make that boost is in and around 100 psi as well on the exhaust side, on a big 5 inch piston you're getting close to 1700 pounds of force to push the exhaust out. You can see why when they blow they split the block in half usually

This is a cool video I haven't seen anybody else on KZbin do! Ran into a very similar problem with the last BBC I worked on a few years ago that chewed up a couple roller cams. In my case it was inconsistent spring pressure spanning all 16 valves, springs from a well-known vendor and it ended up roaching two expensive cams. A spring scale is one of the best investments I've ever made as an at-homer

Are you going to correct the lifter bore issue that buggered the cam as well ? How much material is left to make the correction ? Or is it an simpler issue of relocating the broached keyway and correcting the bore to crank relationship ?

With that massive amount of a lobe lift, would the angle of the lifter bore be a concern with side loads? Causing the lifters to cock in their bores? Just thinking out loud...

Big base circle and large lifter wheel (.910) help that issue alot, we have bbc's with same lift and much smaller base circle and lifter wheel with no issues.
