John Deere and Suzuki outboard build of Frankenstein Part 1 the gathering the assembly epic how to

In this video I try out a concept I saw here on you tube and that was to take an lawn mower engine and put it onto an outboard lower. I decided to pump up the project a bit and use a riding mower engine 21 hp John Deere V-Twin Briggs & Stratton motor off of my LA130. I then found a donor outboard with a seized power head, perfect. It is a DC30C Suzuki 30hp. In this video you will see the two Frakensteined into one. Join me on this journey.

This is great, love it. Plan on doing the same thing with a B&S 6.5 hp mated to an older 7.5 hp Ted williams lower. Only draw back I have is I dont have a plasma cutter, band saw, metal lathe, welder , engine stand, other than these essentials, im good!!!!!

This type of conversion been done since the year dote.. just after T rex was around ... i did it back in the 90s 15 hp wammy leg put a 3hp indian law mower motor on it worked well ... i saw on U tube a 60 mariner leg ... 28 hp 2 cyl briggs and straton ..made in the USA...a few years a go...sold it got some thing $800.for it... helo from ireland...😉

One other thought. For the battery, I think you can make a battery box at the front of the motor base an install the battery there. Regarding the fuel delivery, you may consider installing a 5pdi fuel pump with a built in bypass. This way you can place your gastank anywhere inside the boat. Just a thought.

I I am building a Tri-Toon with three outboards Two of the powertrain are like your concept The third powertrain design will be electric. I am using a powertrain system from a golf cart, the electric motor will replace the gassoline engine.

Great video! But, why not use an already made coupler called a "Novajoy" or just plain "LiveJournal" to couple the shafts together? From 5/8" to 3/4" the coupler cost me $19 and tax at Graingers, and they have them in sizes up to 2". I've been told you can get them at Tractor Supply, too, but Graingers was closer.

50hp would be big bottom end for that 19hp

that briggs runs at 3600 rpm wide open that boat powerhead ran at least 6000. it will run but wont have no speed

Hopefully part 2 is the fabricating (getting all the controls attached to the thing) and painting (John Deere Green with Yellow stripes). Then throw it on Banana and take it for a test run. Let me know when that happens and I can bring the drone down and get some good footage.

Yeah you'd have to have a prop twice that size to do the job that 2 stroke did. Youre talking a third the RPMs with that thing. I did this with a 3 horse 15 years ago for a canoe so I could go up river. It worked but it was slow and vibrated alot because it was just a single cylinder. Fun to play with tho lol

Hate to burst your bubble, but that thing is going to burn a ton of gas and be rather slow. Looks like a 25hp outboard that usually turns 6K rpn and a 20ish hp lawnmower engine that turns 3600 at best. All that torque your talking about and pulling a high pitched prop are going to cause problems of their own. Wear a life jacket and update your will.
