John Deere Garden Tractor Universal Joint removal and install how to

How to change out John Deere universal joints. This doesn’t require much more than a rag, a flathead screwdriver and a small hammer.
I would recommend skipping the u joint press on these as it is very likely to bend the yokes. Once the yokes are bent, it is very unlikely you can get them back to the right position again with a lathe and some special equipment to measure more accurately than your tape measure.
I do a few hundred of these a year and this is my go to method everytime. It not only saves me time but also a lot of frustration.
