The voice of John Farnham brings tears to your eyes. His talent is immeasurable. I am fortunate enough to be able to say that I have dined with him on a few occasions since 1972. I absolutely love this man as a person and entertainer.

Yep.. you got it straight away mate about John... he is so down to earth, and he certainly would shake your hand and say g'day... John is now nearly 70 and still alive and still performing strong... and let me tell you, there is noone in the world at 70 years of age singing as good as John does in contemporary music... that's why he is 'The Voice'... he really has set the precedence and standard for quality... and as a fellow vocalist and performer myself, he makes me want to be the best I can be... thank-you once again for showing our Australian legend Mr John Farnham....

I remember in the 70's and 80's, I always thought he was a little bit of a dick but with a great voice, I actually appreciate him a whole lot more now for his passion when he sings and what a show he can put on! A friend played the bagpipes for him on one of his shows with You're the Voice and said that he crafts each show with so much precision but looks after everyone on the stage.

John is an amazing performer. His acapela version of Amazing Grace from the 80s is amazing. He's also extremely humble which is why Australians continue to adore him. He did an interview last year for a fundraising concert and the interviewer asked him "What is it about you? Why do you think you're still selling out concerts?" (Or along those lines) He instantly replied with "have you seen how good the band is? I've surrounded myself with the most talented people in the world, and they make me look good"

"I've surrounded myself with the most talented people in the world, and they make me look good" and he omitted to say. they were drawn to me because of my ability to lead from the front and inspire people to jump on board . but he's right about the quality of the band . he pulls the best out of them and they pull the best out of him .

You are right about John Farnham. My daughter when she was 15 was asked to do a waitress job for one night for a wedding and John happened to be one of the guests. Due to the older women being a bit nervous, they asked my daughter to serve John and his wife. My girl is a very sweet, quiet girl and John and his wife absolutely adored her. As an Australian young girl of the 80’s Johnny Farnham was my first favourite singer when he released his album “Wispering Jack” (it was on tape! - my first tape too!) He was already a big star in Australia by the 80’s which you may already know by now. He was a hit with my mums generation also and still has a huge impact on the following generations as a great singer, performer, comedian and all round great guy! Yes he is still alive and very much still keeping his toe in the public eye even in adds on “telly” (television) Despite doing many “last and final shows” lol 😆 I took a huge group of friends one year to a concert in Melbourne a couple of decades ago now, but it was one I will NEVER forget! The best concert I have ever been to! It’s so nice to hear your reactions to JF, he is like an icon to Australians and it’s so cool to see his music shared on your channel. Hi just listened to John Farnham Angels. He is now 71 years old and still sings all his amazing songs in the same cord as he did when he was in his 20's. He. is as Australian icon much adored by all ages. He chose not to leave Oz to make it in "the big time, " but choose to sing for us. The whole country know him as Farns. And he is exactly as you said he appeared. Down to earth, honest chats to anyone as if he was their never door neighbor. He was voted Australian of the year in the 80's. Look for a clip when Celine Dion was on tour here and all she wanted to do was sing YOUR THE VOICE during her concert with him in Melbourne. It's a fabulous clip .PLEASE try listening to A TOUCH OF PARADISE , YOUR THE VOICE they will blow you away.

I’ve seen him live many times & went to this concert in 2000 as well! He has so many amazing songs Ty. Probably his biggest hit here, was ‘You’re the voice’. @johnfarnhamexperience
@johnfarnhamexperience 4 жыл бұрын
you're a goose... he never said he's retiring... there's even videos on youtube with him saying he's not retiring... what he did say is that he's going to cut back from the major tours that he used to do... and he has stuck to his word... so instead of performing at 30000 seat arenas, he's now performing to 2000 and 5000 seat places... and instead of doing 5 to 10 concerts in each state, he's now doing 1 or 2 in each state... so aside from that, with alot of artists around today on drugs and carrying on like losers, you want to have a false dig at a decent human being, that's been completely drug free his whole career, which spans more than 5 decades, unlike alot of artists now that last maybe a year.. so aside from an incorrect statement, you'd be best off keeping your wrong facts to yourself...

@@RolandDeschain1 The Last time meant 'the last time he was going to tour like he had for the last 40 years... and his exacts words were "I'm not retiring"... and being an Aussie the title and tour was meant as tongue in cheek... obviously some people don't get that sense of humour... I'm not going to do the work for you... but there are videos, before he did 'The Last Time' tour... where he explains this and more... it's not his fault that some people didn't watch it, or listen to it... even as I tell you what exactly went down you still don't listen to the facts... you need to let it go mate, go and pick on a more deserving artists that actually does carry on like a turd...

The atmosphere is totally different and you will see him shake hands with pretty much every one in the audience. LOL He will hug you right back. That's the type of guy he is. Thats why we love him!! John is one of those rare performers who is truly “the real deal”. Plus you are dead on when you said that he is a very personable entertainer. He can walk of a long flight at the airport and will sign autographs, pose with fans for photos and he will always have the biggest smile on his face and he won’t stop until either he’s seen everyone of the fans there or if he’ll miss his flight (if he’s flying out). You can search ANY media you want and I guarantee that you will not find one bad name about John. All you will find is the massive list of his achievements. 8 years “Australian King of Pop”, the largest selling Australian album, longest number 1 chart album with 26weeks at no.1, 17 ARIA (which is the Australian Record Industry Awards), plus the ARIA hall of fame, Australian of the Year in 1988. As far as Australian music goes he is classed as royalty but his personality certainly does not reflect that. He has toured with some amazing people. Stevie Nicks, Tom Jones, the late Ray Charles, and it goes on & on. He is still alive and still performs around the country. As a matter of fact he just turned 70 a few weeks back. I have been a fan of Johns for the last 40 years and as a personal idol of mine he has never let me down. I hope this has given you a tiny bit of insight into who is probably one of the greatest (if not the greatest!) entertainers Australia has ever produced. Plus don’t pay any attention to all the “retired” comments. Never ever has John EVER said that he was retiring. He’s just stopped playing at the big venues because it’s a lot of pressure on an artist to fill all of those seats. When John did his last major solo tour back in 2000 he titled it “The Last Time” meaning the last time he was going to do a major solo promotional tour. People just didn’t listen and only paid attention to the tour title and then started making up their own stories. Anyone who tells you otherwise doesn’t really know John Farnham.

His Whispering Jack album rebooted his career in 1986. There’s a reason John Farnham is affectionately known as Australia’s Favourite Son. Anyone born in Australia before 1980 remembers the fun and talent he brought to the Australian music scene. The 80s really was a golden age of pop and rock music for Australia with a lot of great talent that could have gone so much further, but at the time for a country of only 15 million people it was hard for our little backwater to break out on the world stage with only a few exceptions like INXS.

Yep, our John is one of the boys, no airs or graces, straight up funny, gorgeous and talented. He gets embarrassed when people praise him. If you met him, you wouldn't stop laughing and you'd want to be his best friend 💖💖

John has had a long career and seen the high's and lows of the business which is probably part of why he is such a genuinely nice person from all that people say of him... From back in the day when you first sang Sadie the cleaning lady as a young man until today.. we thank you for the wonderful music and songs :)

You're so right about John, Ty. I had friends who lived next door to him and his wife Jill years ago and they were a very down to earth couple and great neighbors. He and Jill have been married since 1973 by the way. He said he was happy to stay in Australia with his wife and kids rather than make it big time in the US. His family has always came first. John is well known for his sense of fun and easy going manner as well as his amazing voice. That's why he is so loved in Australia.

like everyone has said you nailed his attitude and personality perfectly. This is the traditional aussie mindset to a T. As an English migrant when he was just a little boy with his parents, like many in that era, he made himself an aussie through and through. He does love to joke around, and there are some stuck up singers out there who refuse to sing with him because he acts this way at times. Not that he can't be serious when he wants to be and as you well know he isn't lacking in pure talent. That Lisa Edwards, if you go back and watch all his other videos, you will see in almost every single one of them in the background singing backup or playing bass. She has been with his line up for decades.

Apparently despite singing with John as a back up singer for decades, Lisa was always nervous being up front, most of this banter at the start is just to cut through her nerves and let her sing at her best.

John is the most real performer you will ever see. His range is amazing and he thoroughly enjoys performing for people.. I've only met him once, many years ago, backstage after a show, and we both played back and forth with a toy car (or bike?) he'd bought for a young relative. A very special man. Incomparable voice.

John Farnham is one of the greatest natural voices in the world. Any time, any day he can turn up and sing like that. But he's had more 'retirement' tours than Ozzy Osbourne. Lisa Edwards is a legend, too.

You have it exactly, he is a genuine good guy, and yes he is still going , just semi retired. You should see him singing with Olivia Newton John. He also supports all appeals eg. drought relief, fire fundraisers, flood relief. We call him Whispering Jack. Our Aussie legend.

Your assessment on John's humanity was spot on. I met him at a Telethon in Perth W.A. in the early 80's. And where was John when not on camera, outside talking to hundreds of people in the long queue in the pouring rain. Afterwards, we had two parties, one for the workers and one for the 'celebrities'. John came and stayed with my mob, the workers. And he's never changed. Celene Dion was here last year and insisted on sharing her stage with him. His reaction was an example in genuine humility. And then of course, there's that voice. BTW I loved your presentation - so first time, I'm following someone on KZbin. Looking forward to seeing your other works - it's a really good format; so good to see someone enjoying great music like you do.
