I was so touched by how much you appreciated being called mate and digger. You have earned that through your past as a vietnam vet and your current actions and how you now see the world through love and kindness. And I loved your reaction to John's live performance. Who cares if it's not the Sydney performance. We all have our favourites ....but you've managed to find one that others may not have seen before. Each one of his performances are different and each one has something a little different. This one was right at the beginning before the tour even started, by the time he had toured for so many weeks he had changed the song up several times and the final night at Sydney was totally epic. But just watching any live version gives you the opportunity to see how he interprets the words written all over his face and body. You can really feel the anguish that he portrays. ❤❤

Hiya Deb. Was the final in Sydney - so many years ago I forgot. I saw it live in Melbourne. Unbelievable performance by John and all the cast. I actually saw the 70s version 2 nights in a row - asked out by 2 different male friends lol. I said yes, not boyfriends, just friends. Lucky me 😂

This is not the actual video of John, live on stage in the actual musical in Sydney, as this is from a Melbourne - but national - TV show named, 'Hey, Hey, It's Saturday, ' a country-wide institution in it's time, showcasing many great Aussie artists. However, whatever John does is perfection ! John is very charismatic in LIVE performance when and where his Soul shines ! Glad that you enjoyed it. Light, Love and Goodwill to all.

The country wide programme “Hey, Hey” but thankfully not IN the country. I saw it once or twice when I moved to the big smoke and it was the most crass piece of television I’d ever seen, so cringeworthy and racist. Too bad that the actual opera that was filmed for the final performance of JCS was not the one that was recommended to our host. It has always amazed me that Farnham could still “bring in all” after so many performances. And I would like to advise our host that the entire JCS Rock Opera is available on YT. He might enjoy to watch it come next Easter.

@@kathyconway5327 I lived in the country and saw 'Hey, Hey' on Saturday nights. It was a well-loved program by many Aussies. Some of it from a number of decades ago may have seemed not acceptable in these times as attitudes and opinions have changed. The show was full of fun and good entertainment. The longevity of the show and the very high ratings for the show speak for themselves.

I don’t think ratings are a good barometer of good programming in any case but I didn’t watch this review because I’ve seen others from the show and knew that as well as not having the fabulous orchestra of the opera it would neither have the gravitas that you would hope to have in a rendition of Gethsemane.

@@kathyconway5327 Actually, it was very good with a small orchestra and lighting effects to imitate the stage experience. It was an advertisement for the up-coming musical. The reactor loved it !

Just in your own time please watch the final night performance of this in Sydney we can’t expect you to react again to this but I guarantee you will enjoy it John takes it up another couple of notches for the final night.

This is apparently at the beginning of touring. The Sydney one is nearly 90days later, with often 2 shows a day. Interesting to see the difference.

John is notorious for forgetting words,which if course he did here. But fortunately he gets it right when he sings it in front of Tim Rice and the audience at the final show of the Sydney leg of the tour. The video for that is really bad quality but his performance is perfection and extremely powerful. Please check it out if you can. ❤

Aww, you got me tearing up at the end seeing you so touched by the previous comments. You are a lovely man ❤ Thank you for choosing John for your bonus video. He is something else live. The emotion he brings is so fitting to the part of the story he is telling - John has great acting abilities, even if he doesn't think he has. This performance was actually from a popular Aussie show Hey Hey it's Saturday, promoting the upcoming tour of the show. Still a great performance by John. That belt when he sings "Why should I die" gives me goosebumps!! John is the master and I look forward to you listening to more of him. Ha! I had to laugh. But no-one can deny you tried! I was going to paste the link to the REAL live version where he puts EVERYTHING into it, but I see others have already done that. I don't expect you to do a 3rd reaction to Farnsie's Gethsemane, but when you have a spare 5 mins I recommend you put your feet up, fire it up and enjoy it just for yourself. Another great reaction for another performance. I haven't seen this version before but it's just as good as 1992 Australian cast - Sydney final night) performance. John can sing any genre and is always best live. You should check out 2 songs from his concert tour 'The Main Event' withOlivia and Anthony Warlow. 1. Thankyou, this IS a great version of John singing Gethsemane, it was here on this show that many of us (us Aussie oldies anyway) first saw /heard John sing this song, If I recall correctly, this was a special edition of 'Hey Hey it's Saturday' filmed live in Darwin, John's song was to promote the up-coming rock opera and the first time John had sung it live, but it's not 'THE' version, but thankyou again, - if you get time please have a look at the proper LIVE Rock Opera version - not to react to, but just for yourself to see what John in the show was really like - link here kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWbaoICQqaifnqs (FYI - Darwin, the capital of the Northern Territory, has only two seasons, HOT and dry and HOT and wet, ) have a good day,

Honestly, if people want a particular version, they have to link it, or at least advise of the search terms... Everyone always comes on after the fact to tell reactors they got it wrong, when they have no way of knowing which is the "correct" version!

You nearly got the actual stage musical. That is where you can really see John perform. He did 9 years of stage musicals, he can act. You should watch the real stage version just for yourself because we have seen it many times. It is wonderful, eerie, sad and uplifting. Thank you for caring about John and your kindness. Too me this song is best sung by Dan Vasc who absolutely nailed it. Sorry, but John doesn't come near it.
