Tour of Duty - Concert for the Troops was a benefit concert held on 21 December 1999 in Dili, East Timor, for the Australian troops serving with the International Force for East Timor. The concert was a special Christmas present to show appreciation and support for the troops stationed in East Timor, away from their families for Christmas. It was held at Dili Stadium in front of 4000 troops from INTERFET countries, and also broadcast in Australia.

@ yes it was a terrific concert for the solders, yes quite a few performers. I have a vague memory of watching John in an interview talking about the concert after it . Hope you are having a great Christmas, it’s the 26th here in Aus, had a fun day with my daughter and grandsons yesterday, Christmas Day 😊🎄

@ I found it, but it’s the full concert, over an hour long WITH John also talking about the tour, some chatting at the beginning . Maybe something you’d want to watch in your own time. It’s called - Tour Of Duty (1999) The John Farnham Edit

Thanks il check that out. I could record a reaction but probs have to do live as i dont think my camera would be able to handle it for that long. Most of the songs will probs be out there individually tho but fear i may miss something from the full version

Another great song, Thank you, Australian who really never watched either Neighbours or Home and away, seen the odd episode here and there over the years but that's all, but my teenage stomping ground was Whale Beach /Palm beach area where Home and Away is filmed. climbed the headland to the lighthouse (Barrenjoey) many many times, YES PLEASE do the 9 minute clip of John and Kylie, I have no idea what it is, but I'll be in for it. Thanks again

Haha iv no idea either it will be a nice surprise when i click on it lol. Are home and away and neighbours popular over there ? They remind me of a show we have in england called hollyoakes. I dont watch that either tho. Tbh i dont really watch a lot of tv shows. Music is much more fun. Thank you for watching and i hope ur having a great christmas and new year so far

Damn Kylie looked great, I had such a huge crush on Kylie when I was a kid from our long running tv series neighbors, she was so hot. This was a great performance from all on that stage, Kylie sounded great in this and John as always incredible. Great song, you should do the old black and white version by our king of Australian rock n roll “Johnny o’keefe, he was a great rocker in Australia during the 50’s and 60’s and had a lot of big hits and “shout” was one of them. But John and Kylie did it justice as well. Hope you had a good day yesterday Ted and everyone else and happy new year to you as well.

Yeah she looked amazing. I also did and still have that crush on kylie lol. She has a natural beauty. Great voice as well and stage presence. Her and john work well together. John does with everybody he duets with. This one had the crowd electric as well its one of those songs but they performed it great. Il check him out and add it to the list. Did he do the original of it ? I know lulu did a version but dont think was her song. Just googled and was the isley brothers. That surprises me. Il add the johnny o keefe version to the list tho thanks for the recommendation. Thank you. Its still Xmas day here, well it ended an hour ago but iv not been bed yet so still counts. Has been bit crap but iv had worse years tbh. Iv had some rest and ate a lot of junk lol. Gonna watch Oliver in a minute before bed. Hope ur having a great christmas as well mate. Think your into boxing day now ?

@ yeah Kylie is hot and a great performer and yeah John’s such a nice guy and can work with anyone and everyone loved to work with him. Yeah just an average Christmas for me, not the same without mum and dad and little brother “Craig”, and ate too much food and spent a lot of time and money on the food that most hardly touched. Yeah Boxing Day here and getting over yesterday, so much food leftover.
@beresfordthompson137026 күн бұрын
@ and yeah check out Johnny o’keefe, he was a great one back in the day, he didn’t write “shout” and not the first to record it but did a great job with it. Grew up listening to him, among others from mum and dad playing his music, she’s my baby is another of his big ones.

Yeah its sad when we cant be with family members for various reasons. My day was full of thought once i was awake. Its sad that time takes so much from us. Ul have to try freeze as much as possible and eat it over coming weeks lol. Is horrible when have to throw food away. Iv discovered some other great duets hes done i cant wait to react to while searching for the kylie video. Sure they be just as good

@ yeah I’ll freeze a far bit and I’ve got 2 large garbage disposals in my dogs so they’ll enjoy it too. Look forward to the next reactions. Take care.

This was such a wonderful concert, very funny in parts & also heartwarming for the troops to have these great artists perform & let them know we appreciated their service & sacrifice to protect the innocent people who were at risk of being invaded by Indonesia. There is a very naughty song they sang at the end which never made it to air lol.. Aussie band The Angels had a big hit with "Am I Ever gonna see your Face again" which had a catch phrase at concerts with the audience replying ""No way, get stuffed f**k off" & of course the troops all sang that version lol. Major General Cosgrove gave them permission but knew it would not go to air...lol The video's out there if you want to have a search lol

Oh wow thanks for letting me know that i will go and have a look for that one. I dont think il react if it has swearing all over it. The odd word is ok but i try to keep this channel as family friendly as possible. Altho the other channel i could react to it on. That channel is bit more relaxed with swearing. Will be good to see that version. Reminds me of the who song “my generation” and everybody always sings “f**k off” afrer the who sing “why dont you all just f f f” very amusing
@justlinsu25 күн бұрын
@@BluntTedTalksMusic It went to air in a documentary I think. I'll have a look too ...I was at first a bit sad that John was singing it with such 'gusto' haha.. but the troops loved it...I think it was said with the attempted invasion in mind ....

Great reaction.. Kylie is great. Shes still releasing music. Her latest song is great I was never into her much but I was into INXS and I know that when she was dating Michael Hutchence, she influenced a lot of Michael’s song writing especially their song suicide blonde. She is also loved and respected by many ❤ Merry Xmas to you

Here I am again 😅❤❤ Thanks for this one Ted. A great pick for Boxing Day/Christmas Day for you. Lots of fun, and just a little but cheeky!! 😉 Yeah, Kylie was very well know for her behind in those days. She is still incredibly popular. I am not sure about Home and Away as I dont watch it, but I still watch Neighbours. Yep, don't judge me!! 😅 I don't know anyone else who does so no sure how popular it is. I like it for the opportunities it gives our local talent and the risks the show takes with who it casts and the storylines. I appreciate it for what it is. Sad note though, you mentioned Harrold Bishop, the actor who plays him, Ian Smith, has just revealed his has terminal cancer and has just left the show and told the rest of the cast. Very sad 😢 Such a lovely guy too 💔 Take care Ted. Still more videos and comments to reply to so will see you again soon!! 😅 🤗❤❤

Oh that is very sad with the actor who plays harold. I remember him from my childhood. Think he fell off a boat and went missing. Turned up lost memory working in a charity shop. He always seemed like a nice guy. I did like the show when i was growing up but i just stopped watching tv for many years. Id stream any series i wanted to watch so forgot loads existed. I hope they gave him a good storyline when he left the show. Id imagine it was very emotional him leaving. Is a lot of people come from the aussie soaps went on to do well. Kylie and russel crowe probably did the best from memory but we had a few do alright in charts for a while over here. Holly valance, craig mgloclin(bad spelling) jason and natalie umbuglia. Possibly few others. I once met hannah martin when she was on stage in my city. Spoke to her for a while she was lovely. Rebecca something i forget last name. I think even madge bishop ended up over here on our soaps lol ❤️❤️
@AnnieD.198225 күн бұрын
@BluntTedTalksMusic It is really sad 😥 He is always up for anything and gave his life to the character. Making guest appearances on other shows etc. They haven't aired his final episodes yet, they are on break for Christmas so will see what the New Year brings. I will be very sad. I cried when Madge died!! Yes, he got lost at sea and turned up in Tasmania I think working for the Salvation Army. A totally believable storyline!! Haha! There have been so many people who got their start on Neighbours. Margot Robbie, Guy Pierce, Delta Goodrem and all those you mentioned. It has an important place in the industry. Rebecca Emiloglou (spelling!!) is still on the show if that is who you were thinking of, back with Paul Robinson once again! 😅 ❤️❤️
@BluntTedTalksMusic25 күн бұрын
Wow paul robinson is back. Thats helens son ? Cant believe i can still remember all these characters. Yeah thats her that plays hannah. Iv not seen her for many years on anything but was cool meeting her at the time. Think she was on one of our soaps for a bit as well. Yeah the salvation army thats it lol i can remember the episode as well when he turned up lol. Its mad to think hes just departing the show now but hes been around pretty much all of my life on there. Did he release a song once as well ? ❤️❤️
@AnnieD.198225 күн бұрын
@@BluntTedTalksMusic Paul's been back on the show for ages. Can't remember exactly which year, but at least a good decade. Still just as troublesome as ever. Though mellowing in his old age 🙂 I don't know if Ian Smith released some music... I know the guy who plays Dr Karl Kennedy has and the others you mentioned previously. Hmmmm.... now I will have to goggle 🤔🙃❤️❤️ Did you know Farnsey did an ep of Home and Away playing himself? 😁
@BluntTedTalksMusic24 күн бұрын
Is karl kennedy still on there as well ? I might watch a couple episodes for nostalgia. I remember karl used to bring out the guitar sometimes on the show. Is toadfish still about ? And if so does he still have the pony tail and undercut ? Anybody in uk with an undercut used to get nicknamed toadie lol ❤️❤️
