Hiatt is one of the best American songwriters in my 64 years - and Jerry Douglas should be a household name. Great work.

What a gift he is. I pray that he is recognized for who he is, by everybody… But of course that may not happen… except by the people who truly value the true goodness that he represents. and that really is all that matters. His true gift will always be embraced by those who are in tune with it. And those who aren’t, will still be blessed by it… and we will all,. eventually, reach that place where we can and will all celebrate all of the goodness that is all around us. At least that’s what popped into my head right now. Along with the loving spirit of John Hiatt.

One of the best pieces of music I have heard. Love the lyrics. John gives Jerry a smile and nod of respect when he nails the bridge. I have listened to this song daily for weeks.
Seems to me that if you can listen to this haunting, wistful song and not have it evoke some memory of a lost love that should have worked but didn’t, you haven’t lived enough yet. How does Mr. Hiatt continue to find our collective souls album after album...I don’t know but thank goodness he does.
