Fun fact : John revealed during the live event he did in MT this year that the clock time on the B&R artwork actually has a meaning. The pocketwatch on the artwork is set at 10:38 am. If you take the average lifespan of a human being and make it into a twenty four hours clock, Mayer was at 10:38 of his life when he released this album. Now he's at about noon. He said, as soon as you start thinking of your life as a 24h clock, you realize you got to enjoy every day because it moves so fast, you find energy to live and make the best out of the time you got left. May it be another inspiration to everyone listening to this amazing track and album.

I just saw John saying this and it made me realize I have so much time left. Then I came here to listen to this song. Truth is I'm just starting my day. Sometimes I forget I don't have to carry the weight of the world upon my shoulders because I have so many more hours of my day to live. This helped me a lot today.
@kaseigunsou Жыл бұрын
@Lucas Malachias John is such an inspiration, I love how he always finds clever ways to convey complex notions. And look, I'm closing to noon right now, and reading your comment about how you were at the start of your morning made me in turn feel much better today ! It reminded me of my own morning and how the good outweighed the bad during this journey so far.

I never knew this and I'm a huge John Mayer fan and I will definitely share this with the 2 other John Mayer fans I know. Also, excellent reply's to this comment. Reading how JM's words and his intentional artwork for this album affected other people in such a positive way really hits home for me and has made me think of, and realize, things completely differently. Kudos to the OP and the commenters.

I think its in his top 3. Continuum, Born n Raised, The Search for Everything. I enjoy an artist who can do different things on albums and doesn't make the same song or album 7 times. This 1 grows on you. The album's lyrics are honest and heartfelt and as always Mayer can write great melodic interesting music. Its a yes for me.

The beginning of this made me feel a certain type of way because it makes you realize how modest of a man John is. he is live on letterman and he takes a pause to fix his harmonica and smiles about it. it makes you feel like no matter who you are you deserve a chance. John is the man.

Its funny how as a die hard fan most of us (or just me and a few of my friends) just disliked Born & Raised when it came. We all wanted to see Mayer churn some tunes like Vultures or Come Back To Bed or Gravity and he came out with an entirely country album like this after a 2 year break and left us all pissed. Also DRH and Robbie left the band! But its wonderful how this album grows on you. Being Mayer fans when you listen to the songs at the right time and it resonates! Born & Raised has become probably one of my favourite John Mayer albums now and this song is probably the best one after Walt Grace. Brilliant version! :)
@glennovic9210 жыл бұрын
I kinda agree, i really disliked the album when it came out. after listening born and raised for a few times. i really began to love this album. proves that john mayer is a lyrical and a musical genius, i´ll never stop listening to his music hehe
@switchfootsid10 жыл бұрын
glennovic92 Absolutely. Lyrics and guitarwork is something where Mayer will never fall short. I think he sang pretty well on the album inspite of his throat problems which were apparent on a lot of songs. Paradise Valley has to be the saddest album though. His vocals also sound bad now, finished watching Crossroads 2013 DVD last night, not doing it for me.

It took a few listens to discover Born and Raised was one of my favorite JM albums. But once I loved it I was so irritated that the other JM diehards weren't getting it, and seeing it not for the genre shift, but for the brilliant lyrics, and melodies. I'm really loving where his music is going and I'm so happy the album grew on you. btw, I'm glad I'm not the only with Walt Grace as the B&R favorite!

I can feel his loneliness in this song. If it hits me at the wrong time, I can definitely curl into a ball and ugly cry at this one. At the same time, it's so lovely & John is so talented. So I'm stuck on this one

8 years since the song released. Makes me cry harder now, than it ever did before

As someone who believes JM is one of the best artists, if not the best, of our generation, it's always so refreshing and heartwarming coming to the comments section to his live videos and see so many people who understand and appreciate his brilliant work. I don't think anyone can be a songwriter, singer, guitarist, producer etc and be perfect at EVERYTHING! Love to the entire Mayer global community 😍
