How is John Oliver so good at simultaneously complimenting and insulting people?

If I'm not mistaken, that's a British thing in general.

I love his accent but I love how clearly he speaks. I understood everything he said. No mumbling, no whispering. I'm in! Going to go look for more of John Oliver videos. This was my first. Yes, I'm 'Murican.

I clicked actually thinking the thumbnail guy looked like Ron Oliver for a second and wanted to see what he looked like before the top of his head went bald. These clips look like they're from 1970s Super8 home footage. It's like the Zephruder film with slightly better era sound.

Murica has 3 syllables, and Russians went to both space and the moon first. But good set, a classic.
@tonybates78704 жыл бұрын
The Russians did not go to the moon first - in fact, I don't think the Russians have bothered to put men on the moon at all, not once it was done by the Americans. Everything else, space-wise, the USSR did it first, no argument there, but the biggie was a successful manned moon landing, and once that was done, well, that's all she wrote . . . at least for a while.
@soulr97294 жыл бұрын
@@tonybates7870 They didn't put a man on the moon first, but they did get to the moon first. And if we're gonna be so nitpicky that putting a man on the moon is all that matters, then we might as well say nobody ever put a man on the moon until somebody does it barefoot.

@@soulr9729 it's not a thing until a Crossfit competition is held on the moon. Imagine all the tire flipping in space.
@tonybates78704 жыл бұрын
@@soulr9729 I didn't say it was all that matters. It's just that once a manned moon landing was achieved the USSR pretty much lost interest in the moon as that was the main prize in the space race of the 60s. Nothing captured the collective human imagination quite like people walking on another world.
