Many moons ago, over 50 years, John Prine was just starting out. I had the divine privilege to see him close up acoustic on a local community college gymnasium floor with only about 20 people in attendance. He was unknown at the time, but what an immediate awesome presence! His music was incredible! Such a unique talent. Lots of story telling in between songs. He captured everyone's attention. I was an instant fan. To this day I'm grateful to have had that experience. I'll miss him forever....

I've never seen him perform. My introduction to him was on The Old Grey Whistle Test in 1973. He sang Sam Stone which moved me very much. Just a young lad with a guitar. He blew me away. I'm glad you saw him around that time. It sounds like a wonderful experience. (I am a little envious!)

Have been a lifelong fan of John's...saw him live in Ithaca NY at a small venue in the 1970s. Have many of his albums. An incredible talent! Love the way he melds life's experiences into his songs...both with humor and sorrow. He's greatly missed. There will never be another!

For John to honor one of his heroes, George Jones, and have Susan do a duet with him on this 1958 gem, is my favorite of his duets. Susan Tedeschi has evolved into one of the best voices out there. And this tribute is just another side of John that made him John. I miss him.

Huge Prine fan ... but I'm still chuckling over the humor of the placement of a full throaty rumble under the video of the MG midget pulling through the ticket booth. So very Prinean.

It may be ironic , but I must agree with Jason Isbell , that American poet , John Prine , aged like whiskey. His vocal delivery got better with his recovery from "C" RIP...Beautiful American Man.

John Prine had great taste in old country tunes. The duets he recorded in his later years, that includes Mac Wiseman too are such a pleasure to listen to. He truly knew how to hit it out of the park.
