I met Keanu Reeves in San Juan, PR last year while I was vacationing and let me tell you, Keanu is one of the most humble persons I've ever met. It wasn't the action so much per se, it was just the story, the way everything was presented, and especially the VERY abrupt ending that left no room for real closure, like Ip Man didn't actually matter. The characters seemed far less interesting as well, and were far less explored. Additionally, I felt the overall presence of the movie was lacking compared to the prequels, probably because it had a different cinematographer, and two other writers - which when you have three people working on a project anyone will tell you that individuality is lost. Something just seemed very off and rushed about the movie - I didn't sense any soul to it that characterized the previous iterations.

I think the first action scene was to set up John Wick's character for the sequel. He's a merciless assassin but he's not a mindless killer. His only reason to return to his old life was just to kill that kid. He only killed the father because he broke his promise to not interfere and went after Wick. At the start of the sequel Wick offered peace to the new Russian mafia boss because he's only looking for his car. That principle however is tested to the limit and ...go watch the movie, already.

As a firearms enthusiast and long time competition shooter, I have to say I was amazed by how well the gun choreography! I own several of the weapons seen in this movie and the manipulations of them are spot on. You can really tell Keanu has trained hard and actually understands the tools he's handling. My only criticism can be said for any other Hollywood film. Suppressors or "silencers" do not make guns that quiet! It's a huge misconception tossed around in movies and tv shows. Suppressors only drop the sound to a safe volume without hearing protection. And some people still want hearing protection when shooting suppressed. It's still loud and can be heard for a few hundred yards away.

Year late but that scene was essentially made as a joke to what happened to a crew member in New York. He fell down, didn’t hurt himself too badly (I think just a bruise) and was down for a little bit and everyone just kept walking by like nothing happened. So they thought it’d be funny to have a shootout in the subway and have people not react (I’m pretty sure the director even said that the people in the scene knew there was a shootout going on, but just didn’t care).

I remember reading an interview with the director of John Wick 2, where they specifically asked him about the trend in action movies today of quick cut, shaky cam, close up, darkly lit action sequences. I loved his response. He didn't pull any punches. He said that style of film making is bullshit. He stated that such a chaotic way of shooting was simply a way to mask the fact that you did not prepare your action stars with months of choreography, and that you were not willing to invest quality time and money in skilled stunt work. All I could say, after I read that response was BRAVO! It was precisely that sort of response that assured me that John Wick 2, unlike most action films today, would at least be a joy to watch from a visual and action perspective. I hope the success of both the original John Wick and this sequel will, therefore, usher in a renaissance of action film making that invests in well shot and well choreographed action sequences.

What I liked the most about John Wick is that despite being an action hero, he's far down on Earth and isn't treated like a god by the world. What I mean by this, isn't the fact that people fear him like a god, but because the world doesn't favor him in a way that if he was outnumbered by assassins similar to his level, he could actually die. He is vulnerable and he does makes mistakes and errors in his job as shown in the movies, which makes him feel more human of a protagonist than most human protagonists in hero movies where one guy could easily swipe an entire army with just a sword, or like how nobody could get a shot on Rambo while he kills people without even looking at them. Action sequences are very well done as well. Stylized enough to have a flavor of it's own, but realistic enough to make the scenarios physically possible in real life. Not to mention, HE RELOADS.

In terms of CQB hand to hand, John Wick has a hard on for "over the shoulder" Judo throws, in many cases when it's not necessary to exert that much more energy. g2gfaf Giving a movie a 10/10 means it is a masterpiece. It completely loses it's worth when overused and the fact that Joe gave this movie a 10, shows that he isn't a good film reviewer. Just compare his film reviews to his game reviews. How many 10's has he given to games? Not many. Because he has played a lot of games and he is able to compare a newly released game to older ones. But since he isn't that experienced with movies, new movies put him in awe and he gives them outstanding grades for blowing his mind. To other film critics like YMS for example these movies are familiar, these movies don't offer anything special that hasn't already been done a lot of times. That is why reviewers like YMS don't give 10's out like Candy.

actually, vigo from the first movie was John's ward, he was working for him when he met Helen and asked to get out of the society. he used his marker with Santiago or whatever for help to complete vigo's impossible task then he was allowed to leave. unfortunately Santiago is fucktwit and pissed John off sparking the plot of chapter 2

Good movie indeed. But there are 3 things that are ridiculous and 3 that are pretty much borderline LOL. 1. The car after two hits wouldnt even move - wheels bent and engine into transmission - but it takes more than that and still moves. Hilarious.... 2. How every bad guy walks up to shoot Wick when he JUST finished reloading :D 3. Grenades dont explode in such fire flames - they are fragmentation. Also 2 grenades wont destroy big house. And other two: 1. Bulletproof suit - not saying that this isnt possible, but even one hit would break your bones or cause extreme pain. When bullet doesnt penetrate - that energy has to go somewhere - and that somewhere is the area of your own body. Epic bruises to broken bones - maybe internal bleeding. 2. When Wick meets Winston for last time - and everybody answers to Winston - it shows how powerful he is but.... How did they manage to move all people away and replace with their own - and how they kept from other people going in without looking suspicious to Wick? :D 3. There is probably like few thousand assassins in the world - there is no way for everyone to know which one looks what or his/her name. And if you get excomunicado in US - do people in Asia know? Probably not :D Like, you know: "Paul Lopez - Excomunicado" "Who the hell is he?? Dude, you know him?" "Nope." And for the dessert - not everybody in NY is an assassin - its just all those people didnt manage to get out of park, or were told to stay in it, because Wick talked for just a few minutes - so of course all those killers are there.

the only complaint u have about John wick two Is that the underground catacombs seemed to be to dark for me . It almost looked like half the time he was just shooting nothing because of how dark it was . They should have made it a bit brighter during the editing in my opinion .
