I worked on the Tonight Show. Always great when Eydie was on. A real Broad, said in the nicest way - she was "regular", knew what was goin' on, and sooo talented!

A song of retribution, rare for a masterful popular vocalist to attempt. She absolutely nailed it... live.

Eydie always looked like she was having the time of her life performing. That was definitely one of the reasons why we respond to her with enormous admiration and love. When she finished this song EVERYONE in that studio gave her a well deserved ovation. Incredible voice.

My favorite Eydie on the Tonight Show. Masterful. Was fortunate to see her steve and Frank. Memorable evening. Eydie stole the show. In Pittsburgh around 1990.

No voice like Eydie and Steve. With one note, you know it is them. Legendary- each had their own talent and together they were magical and fun. It’s rare to find this kind of talent today.❤

Edyie Gorme was my mother's all time favourite #singer. Mom loved the fact that this was raw talent, and that the girl never had a lesson. She was married to Steve Lawrence. I have watched this video maybe 50 times! My mother was a singer, but hardly lived long enough to really hear me sing. I ended up making a living with my chops, but Edyie, Eddie... no one like that little tiny thing!!!

I put her right up there with Streisand!!!
@charliechilders66302 жыл бұрын
@@johnfulton4921 I would think probably a little above Streisand. When asked Barbra Streisand why hasn't she recorded the great torch song "if he walked into my life today????"🤔 Never!!! How can anyone ever compete with such perfection?" This made me admire and respect Streisand even more because she showed her admiration, love and total respect for this incomparable singer! 🤗👍💌❤️

Tony Bennett's recording of this Johnny Mercer/Sadie Vimmerstedt 'Kicker was a staple on many a Jukebox across the land & Eydie Gorme's performance here & recording of "I Wanna be Around" is in that same league... 'It doesn't get any 'Better !!

J'ai longtemps pensé que la meilleure version de ce thème était celle de Bobby Darin ( voire T.Bennett) . Je n'en suis plus aussi sur après avoir entendu celle-ci . Prodigieux . I have thought for a long time that the best version of this theme was that of Bobby Darin ( even T.Benett) .But now ,i'm not sure any more.Fantastic Eydie .

The incomparable Eydie Gorme with that delicious little melismatic grouping of notes just past the 1:50 mark that she skillfully and sparingly uses as seasoning always in the perfect location. Often referred to as an ''Eydie-ism''....more prevalent in her earlier work and always used tastefully. Some singers in more recent times have gone a bit overboard with this technique...IMO.
