Beach music or Carolina Beach music originated at Myrtle Beach and Folly Beach in the late 1950's. It is basic R&B taken to the next level. Being from Charleston, SC I'm just a little bit biased about my beach music....haha.

Tremendous songwriting. Used to see these guys at the Jersey Shore late 70's, early 80's. THE best bar band I've ever seen. They'd get the place rockin'...everyone involved...and when the night was over you'd leave with your soul renewed! They were that great.

The Fastlane Shows from 79-81 were some of the best live gigs I've ever seen. They played most every holiday weekends. Special guests that joined them included Joe Jackson, Bruce, Gary Tallent, Mad Dog Lopez, Southside, LaBamba, Kevin Kavanagh.

The sad thing is, they cut off the ending of this video. I saw it on MTV back in the day, and at the end, the piano player trails off, then takes the cigarette out of his mouth and blows a cloud of smoke out. That one gesture manages to capture all the nostalgia, regret over lost youth and innocence, the bittersweet feeling of an adult looking back on youth that this song is all about.

Saw them in concert back in 88. This was the last song. The lead singer told the audience that if they believed in themselves that they would go far or something to that effect. But it meant alot to me as a person. Then they played this song and it was very emotional, to me at least.

I saw them perform at a local bar many years ago. When this did this song, they were as good as any band I"d ever heard. I can still picture myself standing there with a beer in my hand. Really loved the duet at the end between the sax and his guitar. What surprised me the most is when I realized that the sax player had been in the movie. I guess they needed to cast someone as Eddie and the Cruiser's sax player, and decided he looked right for the role.

This was put on the Eddie and the Cruisers soundtrack, this guy and his band called John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band. They did all the songs on and that soundtrack, if you look up Eddie and the Cruisers, you'll see the whole soundtrack, that whole soundtrack, and movie was great, and part of my childhood growing up in the 80s, born in 78. I'm a metal head, but I like good rock bands no matter what. These guys were great. They should have been bigger than they were.

I used to watch this movie with my dad and uncle. I have been playing music for 20 years. Looking back, I think Eddie and the cruisers inspired me to play music and pick up a guitar. I miss you, Dad and Uncle Brian life sure goes by quickly. I have to say that's one of the best damn saxophone solos I've ever heard every note I can feel in my soul, and my heart hurts, but I can't help but listen again and again.
