I prefer "Wintertime Love" to "Summer's Almost Gone" but the latter is still pretty good. On Waiting for the Sun I also like the beautiful ballad "Yes, the River Knows". I like The Doors without being totally crazy about them. I don't know why but I never got into their debut album, while I like a lot of songs from Strange Days and Waiting for the Sun as well as The Soft Parade to a lesser extent. Actually The Doors albums I really like are their last two with Jim Morrison (Morrison Hotel and L.A. Woman) in which the bass is perhaps more prominent. I can understand why this band was a revelation to you, as they had a unique and timeless sound. For me, coming from a later generation, the defining band of my teenage years was The Stranglers, who somehow fused 60s psychedelic rock (especially The Doors) with the raw energy of the late 70s punk movement (with bass at the forefront). If you don't know the song, try listening to "Sometimes" from their 1977 debut album Rattus Norvegicus on your channel. It's obvious that The Doors' influence is more than palpable!😉

Agreed. Yes, The River Knows is a great song. I think I have some Stranglers. I'll give the song a spin if I do.

It would be great, if some day you can do a few songs from another amazing album from 1968, S.F.Sorrow by The Pretty Things. 30 years later, they performed the album live at the Abbey Road Studio with David Gilmour and the whole story narrated by Arthur Brown.Thanks.

@@JohnCregoWorldMusic Yes,they are and David Bowie was a huge fan. After that wild period, they changed and explored new musical directions with their masterpieces S.F. Sorrow in 1968 and Parachute in 1970.

These songs have so many chord changes. Compared to blues they are tricky, jazzy. Good stuff but beyond my guitar skills. I can play People Are Strange though and Love Me Two Times
