The vulnerability and humility Dr John has is exactly why I faithfully watch this show. I am so thankful he brought us into this teaching moment and didn’t scrub the show or throw it away. Yes it was hard to listen to but those moments are hard in our own lives as well. I am just really glad he let us into those calls. I’m thankful for all of the work he does and I’m praying for him to continue on ❤

It's always good to know the "experts" are still human. I wouldn't want a therapist who doesn't understand what it means to fight the good fight because they seem above it all, but one who would guides us to know how to effectively keep on keeping on to best thrive, because they have overcome, gotten through trials. and healed.

Oof as a former counselor who has had many a bad day, this is so hard to watch 🫣 good for John being so vulnerable and sharing this.

I’m going to college for counseling and I kind of listened to this and was trying to see if I could recognize anything that was wrong. I started going through a mental checklist that constantly said, “I’ve been taught not to do/say this, etc.” agreed, very difficult to listen to.

Dr John I think you getting deep with the calls made this show great . It felt like your involved instead of just talking

The vulnerability you share today John, is the exact reason why I’m such a huge fan. You have been a role model for me for now 3 years of taking ownership, being humble and admitting your mistakes, and just having amazing wisdom along the way that I have implemented in my own life as I navigate some difficult medical challenges. My mental health has never been better and that’s all thanks to this show!! Love you John! 💕

I started to listen to this show before and thought ok this just another person giving advice. So I started to listen to other ones for a while. Then I decided to give this another try. Now I’m hooked. I love how Dr John really takes the time to be in the moment and give the person time to really take a moment and hear how compassionate and empathetic he really is. That is a great Dr and a great therapist all wrapped into one. He has helped me with numerous struggles lately and mostly understanding that my marriage is worth saving and not just giving up on. Keep up the great work Dr John and please never hide how u are just a person also because everyone is more apt to share more with someone who is real and not just coming up with the right answers to fix things.

I heard a marriage therapist giving a lecture once say that the best marriage advice he and his newlywed wife had been given themselves by friends was, "Prepare to be disappointed and to be disappointing."

I appreciate your heartfelt, raw honesty and vulnerability. Sometimes you have to love people enough to be honest inspite of the fact that you might hurting their feelings. We are here to help people see each other's blind spots! You are awesome John and I appreciate you and your work! I don't think that you were too harsh at all. Please don't candy coat your advice!!

Way to show that even if we screw up, we can be adult enough to make the tough choice of admitting it, and doing the best we can to fix it. Truth is, we all screw up sometimes.

There have been other calls that I have been critical of John's handling of them. The three calls from this episode are not any of them.

I thought this conversation was good. Both my parents aren’t Christian and sent me to a Christian school and when I turned 18 honestly I made a choice on my own to be a believer my parents never forced me, and both my parents are still not believers, but they have been so supportive and they have always allowed me the choice to choose .I am forever grateful 💕

@@happyface3216 my mom said that she was talking to a Jew that she knew. & she was asking him where she should send me to school, and he explained Jews don’t teach Torah and then send there kids to public school, he explained that it’s confusing .If you teach your kid the about God to keep it consistent . So that they won’t be confused, I hope this makes sense lol . But yeah ! my mom then put me in a Christian school and my life was consistent I wasn’t going to church and seeing two diffrent worlds . All my friends lined up with the same belief, and as I got older I knew the world was there, but it didn’t interest me as much .

I appreciate this episode being aired despite the mistakes. The ex-wife in the first call is completely irrelevant, and I think normally Dr. John would've caught himself before going down that road.

To be totally honest, I don’t think John has a single thing to feel bad about. From the start of the call it was clear that she hates her husband. She doesn’t care about his hopes and dreams, she only cares about herself. She wants him to have a hot body like his first has wife had. She is delusional.

Married to a man who was in great shape when married to his kids' mom, he did that because he was miserable in his marriage. Now that he's in a happy marriage, he's not obsessed with it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yeah I'm cringing cause I'm also unhappy with my husband's health and weight. But it's less, "I expected hotness" and more, you way too young to be this bad health wise! But he also has an ace score of 6.....so I'm trying to be patient and pushing him towards therapy first.
