@@gloriamaryhaywood2217 - He was a pioneer. A lot of super black entertainers went under the radar for decades. Elvis, The Beatles, The Stones and The Animals especially covered a lot of their songs early on and they finally got recognized. (Those English groups also refused to play before segregated audiences.) People like Little Richard, Fats Domino, Bo Didley, Ray Charles, James Brown, Sarah Vaughn and quite a few girl groups. Used to love the doo wop groups and have a lot of "Rhino" records. The line dance was hilarious!
