Because unlike recent popular shit music,Cash's music actually means something. This song reached out to everybody who endured the flood,and many people liked this song as a story.

I love the sound of Luthers guitar. I wish he would have used that reverb more often.

He did in a way. He received a external tank head around 1961. In 1963 when he got his Super Reverb which had a internal tank, he mainly used that reverb. Though at times he did use a exeternal tank in the studio. He used a external tank on most of the songs on the Orange Blossom Special album. External and internal tanks have different decays, reaction times etc. Once he first used reverb, he never did quit. You just have to listen closely to his mix in songs
