ME1 Renegade was a little over the top, and it feels like Bioware didn't want to lean in on being legitimately evil and cruel. Mass Effect 2 and 3 Renegade had their funny moments, but also was plain mean or downright *heartless* on many occasions.

Think a lot of writers have trouble writing "mean" or "heartless" actions that come across as natural reactions. It doesn't help that a lot of people have some baseline level of empathy for others, even for fictional characters. So for a lot of us, many of these Renegade responses just come across as over the top and unnecessary for the given situations.

Mass Effect 1 has some of the most comically serious renegade dialogue and actions in like the entire series. It's amazing how even though ME2 introduced interrupts and stuff, Mass Effect 1 still kinda beats it in raw dialogue when you're doing your best to be the biggest dick in the universe.

Evil Shepard is incoherent. He doesn't have time to "waste" it on the enslaved colonists and is fine with killing them but he also think it's bad that the thorian enslaved them. So what is it? Guy wants to save the galaxy but kills unarmed people without a second thought. Seems like the only reason why he's fighting against Saren is because he's afraid of the competition.

Shepard knocks Wrex down on the ground,a KROGAN, with one hit from the butt of his gun, and this is Shepard pre lazarus project before all the cybernetic upgrades. I call bullshit on that scene. The ME3 fight with Wrex was at the very least was more believable.

Krogan are amongst the most strongest and durable species in the galaxy and Wrex is no ordinary krogan, he took out a thresher maw on foot. Again if this is Shepard after the lazarus project it would be a bit more believable, but in mass effect 1? I don't buy it.
