He was a great comedian, but an even better straight man. Cannon was one of probably thousands of people who was funnier when being interviewed by Johnny than at any other time in her life.

You really have to hand it to Johnny, he had class and no matter what was always courteous and ready to be humiliated even if he was the brunt of the joke. There will never be another Carson RIP Johnny and Ed

I saw Dyan on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson live and it was the 1st time Dr. Ruth W. was on the show May/June 1982....long time ago! It was HILARIOUS!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Dyan was always a terrific guest. Lovely, Charming, Sexxy, Smart with an infectious laugh. Ed's laugh always added to the situation. Thanks for sharing!

4:00 broadsword just said it. Good job on the slow take of that part by the Director 📺. All the people in this shot, especially Johnny, must have watched Jack Benny do this two or three times a tv show …often at the commercial break. 🥲♥️Dyan was so relaxed and totally beautiful. And she is still working. Directing, of all things. Up for an award. 💙Go girl

Being incredibly intelligent, Johnny was rarely at a loss for words. On the rare occasions it happened his reactions were so funny. He obviously had strong feelings for Dyan.

He obviously liked her a lot. He may have been hurt by her laughter. Still, with the cameras rolling, the showman that he also was, he turned this into a classic funny moment of the Tonight Show.

Johnny maybe was successful but not a Cary Grant, not close, that’s who she married after Grant chasing her . Most men I think realize a smart, beautiful woman and react as Johnny did, she also mentioned she didn’t date/ live with anyone for quite a while. Wonder why? I guess she wasn’t a club 54 type!?

What a great country this was back then. 13 TV channels; bunny ears, telephones, answering machines, phone booths, newspapers, photo booths, Pinto's and Johnny. Simple.

You must have come up in a large city. 😂 We had 2 stations on vhf pbs was on UHF and late night we might be able to get 2 more stations depending on the direction of the 🐰 and if the sky was clear 🌉 or cloudy ☁️☁️☁️. 😂

Imagine listening to that piercing cackling for several years. It would become very grating. Then again, she was married to Cary Grant for only three years, and husband number two for less than six.

@@alanhigh8125 Read her book "Dear Carey" and you will see it wasn't the laughing that broke that marriage up, it was Grant's inability to adjust himself. Michal Douglas is lasting with Catherine Zeta-Jones because he is willing to adjust his ways in his senior years on behalf of the relationship, Carey wanted no part of that and punished her. Grant and Cannon should have never gotten married. She married for an iconic dream, he married for some older year action. It was Sinatra and Farrow all over again.

I've met Dyan a couple difft times at kick back parties and she is so nice. Fun, kind and even brings homemade cookies to parties. You gotta love her laugh here.

One of the funniest segments I have ever seen! Still laughing. Absolutely infectious. He was really the best at his craft. Nobody ever came close to Johnny. They tried. But in the end, they were just imitating the master.

My mother went to a Dodgers game with my dad in the 60's and Cary Grant was there with Dyan Cannon. Cary Grant looked at my mom and asked if she was some Italian ambassador's daughter (my mom's Armenian). Dyan Cannon looked pissed. My dad said "no she's not" then looked away....awkward!!!

That was funny. A very good interview. Carson was the best, by far. If she is talking about Stanley Fimberg, that marriage lasted 6 years (1985 to 1991). She married Cary Grant in the 1960's, by the way.

When he moves her hand off his at the 1:54 min. Mark, speaks volumes. I'm glad she had the poise and grace to overlook it. Something tells me she never did get a wedding gift from him. Sadly, she was divorced in 6 years.
