Johnny Cash was a legendary country music singer, songwriter and musician. Born on February 26, 1932 in Kingsland, Arkansas, Johnny made his way up to be one of the most influential artists of all time. His genre-spanning music embraced country, rock and roll, rockabilly, blues, folk, and gospel sounds with top hits such as “Ring of Fire,” “Walk the Line,” and “Folsom Prison Blues.” Honored with multiple Grammy awards throughout his lifetime, Johnny was also inducted into both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame. He often collaborated with other popular music icons, such as Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson, to name a few. I’m sorry for your loss. 😢 Be grateful you had your grandfather as long as you did. All 4 of my grandparents died when I was a teenager, they definitely didn’t live long enough. 💔 Btw, imo, there’s nothing more soothing than the sound of a train whistle in the background, especially at night. 🚂 💓💥

This was the top selling album in 1968. Ahead of the Beatles, the Stones, and a whole bunch of famous rockers. When I played this song for my 6 year old daughter, she became a Johnny Cash fan instantly.

I'll never forget sitting in a prison cell alone at 16, singing this song trying to keep myself from crying. Hard to believe I'm 22 now and that's all been over for 4 years.

Nice story, reminded me of myself. Just over 4 years in the worst prison in my country. Hope you're on the straight and and narrow, as I am and have been for over 15 years. Presídio Central de Porto Alegre, Brazil, 2002-2006 - my heart goes out to convicts all over the world!

@@anonops1980 I've seen documentaries about prisons in brazil. If they're anywhere near true, you're a bad mf for even surviving that. Also, I hope one day to make it to Brazil to train Jiu jitsu and mma in general. You can get it in the states, but it's like muai thai and Thailand, I feel like every BJJ guy needs to go to brazil at least once lol

@@angryhoneybadger4189 they’re as bad as it gets… but I’m never going back. One more year and I’ll get my rehabilitation sentence, meaning I’m a law abiding citizen just like anyone else. Yeah, capoeira is a popular sport around here, but I’ve always been more into boxing. Fits my body type better I guess. Do come around, Brazil is not as bad as people make it look.

Me and My Grandma both love Johnny Cash. She really gets a kick out of me singing his songs in my best Johnny Cash Voice. Last Summer she brought out her old Gramaphone and started playing “Johnny Cash Live At Folsom Prison” and “Johnny Cash and his hot and blue Guitar”. When my Grandma moves on, these songs will always remind me of our time listening to Johnny Cash Together.

I was born a few months after Johnny cash died, this and ring of fire were the first songs I ever learned. When I was 4 I’d stand up on the table and recite lines from walk the line and sing his songs. My mother then chose to name my younger brother cash as he’s made such an impact on my family. Rest in peace to the legend 🙏

my dad had a black and white picture of Johnny Cash standing in a field on the wall when i was a kid. I remember asking my dad if Johnny was a ghost in that picture for some reason and my dad kinda sighed and said yeah while looking a little sad. Still have insane nostalgia for Johnny Cash because my dad would play it every weekend night when I was younger

I remember being in England as a child when my dad was in the Air Force in 1969. Mom and Dad got to see him live in London. I still remember how excited they were. Dads been gone seven years now and every time I hear Johnny Cash I think of my Dad.
