Thank you for this video, I have to say my toes were curling at some points, we don't get much snow here in the UK, I'm not very good walking in the snow and I certainly wouldn't consider using a bike in the snow! 🤣 🚲🌨💖

We can report to 311 to clean the bike lanes but their new method of reporting gets you an automatic response stating your ticket will be reviewed in two weeks.

In NYC they introduced new law where people get paid percentage of ticket if they report cars blocking the bike line. They should do the same in Toronto

Don't sweat it I've owned motorcycles that brake squeels when the pads are wet. The easiest way to fix it it put a very thin layer of lithium grease on the back of the pads so the pads don't make noise when they vibrate against the caliper pistons which causes the squeel when wet. Obviously don't put grease on the front of the pads. Lol. Usually I just am lazy and don't bother but if it annoys you enough it does the trick. What's happening is the pads are hitting micro drops of water with less friction, then dry areas with more friction and the pads vibrate against the caliper pistons. It's not dangerous, just annoying eventually the pads and discs will dry out. As I said I'm too lazy to fix it. I fixed every damn motorcycle I've had for 35 years and now my ebike and my friend's ebike. I'm tired. Sorry. My next ebike is going to come with dual 1000w motors, I have almost enough saved to buy it and I'm going to see about getting it registered as a moped as it's top speed is almost 60Km.h. I have a motorcycle license so if my Bandit 1200 only cost $600 a year to insure what's a fast ebike? $60? I don't know but's it's got to be less. Then at least I can drive with traffic when a winner decides to park in the bike lanes which is like every 100m nowadays. It will be funny because on the registration in the "C.C.'s" box it will say 2000w instead of 50 cc's. Lol. Also about the bike lanes on Yonge. If you go along Crescent avenue which is where Rosedale station is you can see all the NIMBY signs from the rich people trying to destroy the bike lanes.

You know every commercial vehicle that parks in the bike lane or that you record making a dangerous maneuver can and should be reported back to the company c/w licence plate, vehicle id number, date, time and exact location. If the company's website doesn't have a contact us or feedback you can search until you get somebody's e-mail. I've written to safety managers and CEOs with pictures of their vehicles. I've reported FedEx, Rogers, Beck Taxi, and DHL and some others. We need a lot of people to continuously complain to make it a PR and safety issue.

I had plenty of pucker moments on your ride (I'm a cyclist) and I gotta say, there's no frikin way I would ride a bike in Toronto snow streets. I was dropping F bombs at the screen and my girlfriend was cringing at the corner of the couch as we were watching this. I had to stop the video as my blood pressure started getting too high. Keep safe.

Seems like drivers favor the right side of the lane the way they crowd cyclists on the right. Would sending videos like this to 311 to get the bike lanes cleared properly help? Even drivers avoid driving on the snow and slush when they can avoid it and they don’t have to fear falling in front of moving traffic.

I do the Idaho stop on my pedal bikes, but on the ebike where I have a throttle the momentum argument holds no weight so I stop at them.

I’m always confused by cyclists who seem to think deliveries, ppl being dropped off etc…are not ever going to be in “your” bike lane? How would it be possible for deliveries in situations to be made??? How would it be possible for the city to “keep it moving” as a living thing to not stop in your precious bike lane?!!!
