Ngl I kinda wanna go back to Toronto. Moved to Calgary last year for the same reason- housing crisis. Bought a property here in the suburbs and it's really quite out here. All the streets he walked here in this video, Calgary is nothing like that outside of downtown. Public transportation is more or less the same as TTC. As bad as Toronto is I enjoyed my stay over there. Especially the winters. Here in Calgary this winter is the sixth snowiest winters on record and we quite frequently have temperatures going well below -30 to -40 degrees. Last Christmas we had temperatures in the -45 range for a few days, my coldest Christmas ever. Anyways this was my first video on your KZbin channel. Don't know how it came to my recommendations. Whatever your next venture is I'll now be following this channel. Just keep on doing what you like, have fun, enjoy and stay safe.

Damn, it's depressing seeing the state of Yonge Street. Into the 90s when I lived in TO it was still vibrant with book stores, record stores, movie theatres, diners, etc. Now a lot of it is ploughed under. The Zanzibar seems to be about the only bit of old character still there -- I never actually went in either. A friend of mine used to own a bookstore right across from the Zanzibar, and you could look out the window from his apartment into the upper level windows of the Zanzibar -- they tended to keep their curtains shut. He watched the climactic battle scene of The Hulk being filmed from his roof. Alas, he was driven to a new location when rents skyrocketed. I doubt the area has any appeal for me now, at least not south of College Park (I also find the modern Times Square utterly unappealing). It's funny seeing Canada Gifts is still there, unchanged, decades later.

Actually the low density housing areas are paying their fare share, its the new condo developments that tax an old infrastructure system and require major costs to replace and maintain to the city. Most people don't even realize that the suburbs outside the amalgamated city largely hook into Toronto's infrastructure, one never meant to handle what it is handling, the cost of higher taxes to these areas to maintain proper infrastructure is justified.

Toronto homeowners still pay the lowest property taxes in the GTA if I'm not mistaken... living in low density, unsustainable neighbourhoods causes more damage than good in the long run. Infrastructure upgrades are necessary, but it's absurd that a city of this size and need for housing would be preserving its low density hoods... NIMBYS are absolutely a cancer on society.

Good video u had me fooled till the end. Agreed with most things u said except the end. My wife and I have been coming to Toronto every year Spring and Autumn for 18years but the love for the city is now gone. You pretty much said why it has changed. The final straw was being spat at by a junkie and told to die with covid by a women wanting money from us. We are in our 70's and my wife is now too scared to travel on the subway. Honestly don’t have a problem with biking on sidewalks as long as there’s space to do so and they ride with due care. I prefer riding in the street because I’m fit enough to keep up with cars. If someone is slow enough to ride safely among pedestrians it’s probably safer this way.
