The bowling at Nashville was hilarious. Miku, “😢I want to bowling too😢”. LMFAO!!! If you can find the live versions of “Don’t you Tell Me” or “Turn Me On” there is epic dueling between Misa and Kanami.

John -- If you do a concert, it's gotta be [1st] 2018 ZEPP or [2nd] 2017 Studio Coast (found on the bili site or someone's ripped DVD/BD. It's also on bandmaidprime but you can't broadcast it). Next two choices would be [3rd] 2021 Shibuya, then [4th] 2023 Garden (ripped DVD/BD).
@motley22crue Жыл бұрын
I respectfully disagree! 2021 Line Cube Shibuya should be first... and i say that after witnessing @Ryan Mear, @Wave Potter and @The Champ of Medium's reactions.
@TomClark-Futoura Жыл бұрын
@@motley22crue It's just the Shibuya mix is so poor for Kanami and some of MISA's playing. Have you been able to watch the entire ZEPP concert with either AMPed earphones or with a sound system? And the JBI and WD setlists at Studio Coast and ZEPP are so good. But while Shibuya rates only a 9.8 and not a 10 like ZEPP and Studio Coast ;-), imo, Shibuya would be great if John goes ahead and does the broadcast, even though copyright's are an issue. And what do those G-Guys know anyway, Mot! 🤘😂Thx!
@motley22crue Жыл бұрын
@@TomClark-Futoura Hahaha... I do agree that Studio Coast mix is superior to Shibuya but the buildup, Maid Waltz and straight into Rinne and the first 5 or 6 songs... it's unmatched.

Just wanted to tell you that I was washing my car today and I hear music coming from the Cumberland River. I thought it sounded really familiar. I went to see who it was and there was a Pleasure boat cruising down the river blasting out "I'll" at full volume! I guess the bands trip to Nashville is paying off. First time I've heard someone who wasn't me playing BM! 😄😍🤩

Misa reminds this real old rock fan of my favorite bassist John Entwistle of The Who. The first time I ever heard a bass played like a lead guitar was on their album Quadrophenia. Misa gives me that same vibe.

😂 I thought I was prepared for their live show. I knew lyrics, knew when I was supposed to “hey!” or fist pump…sing…and they hit me with songs I didn’t know!! 😮 So glad you’re inspired to explore their catalog. It’s digging for diamonds. Here’s two to consider for different reasons. “Secret my lips,” one they played and wasn’t ready for. It was the “what?” jazz break that got me. The other? A monster banger, a killer live version that for some inexplicable reason isn’t on their “Best of” CD: “Moratorium.” From one musician and Maidiac to another, “Moratorium” is THE best Band-Maid song
@surfingasongwave Жыл бұрын
You have a really good plan. Their servings are epic. I'd almost suggest the Rockville set just for the activity in the wings, but it's short. The bass line that follows the guitar solo really got my attention the first time I heard this song. Who writes bass lines like that anymore? And the filter mic on the vocals which disappears in the pre-chorus to, y'know, bring it into focus. And the drum fills. Oh, and the outro solo.

Hi John, I saw Band-Maid play Choose Me live at Zepp Shinjuku a week ago. This Okyuji (concert) is the best I've ever attended, even better than the Okyuji I attended at Tokyo Garden Theater in January. Choose me was played to perfection both places. Band-Maid are an amazing hard working, hard rocking live band. If you haven't seen them live yet, you just have to. BTW I'm going to see them again at Yokohama Arena in November, I'm so happy Po. Greetings from Norway 🙂

for me being a fan of the Maids for 8 years I think there's a definite peak in the live shows at Chicago house of blues last year, last show of US 2022 tour..there are a coupe of complete shows on KZbin, it closes with a wonderful version of "Domination" and you can see they have given everything on the tour, and drew strength from the audiences throughout(the inspiration for the song "Memorable")...wonderful curtain call moments at end of show too on one of the complete shows.....on the same "note" :p the official live version of "Domination" would be a good official music video to react to, thanks for reacting to "Choose Me" defiance a fave of mine with great Kanami solos...also love the FFVII music at the end of your vid )

Glad to see you are going to do a whole concert on your patreon, that will be fun. I've watched, and re-watched, every concert video I can find by them and they don't do cookie-cutter concerts. Every one has something/things unique which isn't found in any other. I'm not going to get into the differences, I'll just note that there is always something which will draw you back to re-watch every concert that is on video to be re-watched. Just as I am sure that all the ones that never got recorded are each special and unique too. Have fun!

Great review John. Yes Misa is up there with ALL the greats as far as rock bands go. and i mean like bass players legendary old school bands , like The Who, Beatles, The Faces, Free, Yes, and Led Zep. Yes! RIGHT UP THERE , hands down. Actually Jimmy Page is already a big fan of Akane's drumming after seeing them live in Tokyo, and told Akane she was the reincarnation of his old drummer. WTF ??? : ) Back to Misa, i am sure Flea would have been shown Misa's stuff , as it is well known fact , Misa grew up listening to C Peppers from her Moms records. Misa is a gift to the world of bass playing. Intelligent note choice, tone , technique, imagination , power and tasteful arrangements. She ticks ALL the boxes for Hall of Fame status. PLEASE review Domination Live 2020 Tokyo. The all get a solo spot in this one.

Nashville was Band-Maid show #5 for me (#6 was three days later in my hometown, Detroit). Thought the venue was unique, sound was great and it was a total blast! It was the closest to the stage for me, on the rail but right of the edge of the stage (Mincho side, couldn't see her when she was back at her pedal board but when she came front of stage, I was about 15' from her - got some great pics of her when she was sitting on the edge of the stage during No God (I think it was No God at least lol)). Will be hitting Chicago and Minneapolis shows next month, and I cannot wait! The song that you should react to next was the closer of the entire May tour (for the one-man non-festival shows at least) - Endless Story.

I'll go by the Nashville setlist so... there's a double song Manners/Black Hole LIVE video. Also, do a double reaction to Sayonakidori Studio version and Acoustic version. That would be epic. Maybe Secret My Lips (there's a live version available somewhere else and also Secret Maiko Lips, which is a COVER of the band Band-Maiko. hehehehe!!! Oh, there's also a double song LIVE video of Dice/Different. And you can also react to their music videos separately.

Why aren't they bigger? English. You are thinking in terms of their American audience, and we are a bunch of xenophobes who refuse to learn other languages, so it's not like we have a ton of people who can talk Japanese to them at interviews, or whatever. You know they are all working on improving their English speaking and comprehension, and the US will come in line if that's what they really want. They need to be on SNL, Tonight Show, whatever people are watching these days. Morning show interviews. That sort of thing. And getting a couple of big US musicians like a Dave Grohl behind them would really help.
