Hi Brandon, you are by far my favorite KZbinr repair guy! I’ve watched all your videos, at least once, and really appreciate your thoroughness and easy to follow instructions. Just rebuilt my second 15 horse and rebuild the carburetor, and it bogged down on wide-open throttle. swapped the carburetor and that fixed it. What else could be wrong with that original carburetor that would cause that? I am stumped. Thanks and keep up the great job!

Brandon, I had someone rebuild my carb with new parts from a kit and they just couldn't make the engine idle without dying. I doesn't like to accelerate either. I can get it to accelerate if I choke it, but it seems like it's running lean. I checked my compression and it's about 85 pounds on both cylinders. I replaced the sparkplugs too. It's got to be the carburetor, and it looks like I'll have to take it apart myself. What should I look for which would cause these symptoms?

George Nottachango I'm having the same problem on a 15 hp carb. I rebuilt it using the 4-15hp kit. After looking closer, (and rebuilding every single part of the damn powerhead), I still have the same problem. I found the part numbers for the orifice plug (brass plug in the middle of the carb float area) is a different part number from the 9.9 to the 15 hp, on every motor I have researched from 74-81. The orifice plug is NOT available separately, and the carb kit sellers don't have any idea about this issue. I have also noticed the new points are longer from the fiber wiper to the center of pivot, which may be giving me issues as well. I'm gonna turn my.garage upside down tomorrow and look for my.old orifice plug, and hope all my money and work didn't get pissed away. Good luck! Brandon, any experience with either of these issues?

Old hack saw blade is a good fit for the narrow slot in the seat.

Like the series very much, got the same plan w/the same engine next month,. Bending the float, better to use a long nose plier,in the line of the holes.

Absolutely you can, and given it year, it's one of the cheaper kits.

I just did the same carb. about a month ago.It seems that you have to be careful bending the float level like you did.May damage the needle and seat. Also, I noticed the new floats are bigger than the old cork one.I was wondering if you tried it yet and when pumping the primer bulb on fuel line you had issues with over powering the float needle and flooding engine.I can hear gas continueing to squirt in carb.Primer bulb never gets hard and stops the flow.Had it apart twice more and it passes the air test when blowing into the inlet.

Haven't had that problem yet. A 6 HP I did a while ago does what you describe, perhaps its in the primer, not the carb?

Good afternoon. Explain, please, one question. Muffler 15 hp shorter than 9.9 hp. Is there any additional gasket in or does the exhaust gas get directly into the cavity?
