Thanks. I machined the plate to the exact overall thickness of the OEM part mitigate that issue. I understand all cowlings are not equal so the Gen2 plates will have a little less overall thickness.

Hey brother I have a 9.5 evinrude that I'm rebuilding the carburetor on, my question is the low idle screw is the speedometer cable type with a rubber o ring, do i just put the oring on without the felt/nylon washers?? Also when i pulled the plugs off the side, the bigger one had a white plastic piece in it, i believe it is A 1972 or 73. Any input would be appreciated
@thisoldoutboard4 жыл бұрын
You need to remove and replace the felt washers. Are you referring to the welch plugs?

Good morning. I just watched your video and enjoyed it. I am new to boating and wanna learn more-I have a 1957 Wolverine I purchased and now bought a 57 7 1/2 horse for it also-I haven’t done anything to this motor yet but my neighbor and I redid a 1968 6 horse and got that running. Wondering if you can explain why or why not to add this fuel pump please? Thank you. Have a good day
@thisoldoutboard2 жыл бұрын
Adding the fuel pump gets you away from the old pressurized metal gas tanks. The gas tanks are getting hard to find and eventually leak causing periodic maintenance. Plus some people can find a motor and not the gas tank so my adapter allows them to use the motor instead of it just sitting in their garage. My plate secures the fuel pump to where OMC eventually put the fuel pumps on newer motors. The fuel pumps can be found on Amazon or eBay and they are not expensive

@@thisoldoutboard HI. Wasn’t sure but that helps and i have an old metal tank that worked on the 1968 & the 1957 also came with the old tank as well. Im a late starter in the whole boating thing but came across this cool boat and thought it would be cool to have the same year motor-i have done some bow fishing in a local Lake near my home that limits boat & motor size also! Are you still making these plates- if so i will keep your info if i run into a problem. Thank you for explaining and responding back to me also. Have a good day
