I feel like Jolene is the reason for the betrayal at the end of Holding Out for A Hero. Like, this is the protagonist watching how her lover gazes at the undeniably beautiful enemy general and silently pleading to keep him, and that one is when she learns that at some point Jolene won. She took him without anybody noticing and he led his whole group into a massacre for her, including his former lover.
