Follows the lower half of Arcata's ~4 mile long Jolly Giant Creek as it flows through Arcata's urban downtown area. A tour of the upper half of the Creek can be seen in "Jolly Giant Creek - Part 1.

This wonderful video brought me home to Humboldt for 30 minutes. All the sights, sounds and music filled me with lots of love for the natural beauty of Arcata. Thank you!

I remembered another tidbit; the old wooden building next to the McBain building? It used to be a blacksmith's shop and it's built right on top of the creek; that's probably why it has a swayback.

Wow, Julie is a local hero! I love that stretch of creek she helped save and so did my dog. I can't tell you how many times we stopped there on our walks. How cool that Scott and others have revived another creek segment, too. I'm thankful to anyone who has helped save our green and wild spaces! 💚

I've stopped there many times and leaned on the fence, just watching the water flow.

Yes! And it's even more adventurous with those awesome drone shots, Jake.

Aww, you didn't walk the bit along Alliance? It's pretty overgrown, and there is (was?) a sketchy bridge, but it's at least partially walkable along the train tracks. I remember watching the McBain building go up; it was fascinating to see the creek take shape, and it's grown in really well. Thanks for the closeup view! Fun trivia; the daylighted section at 7th & I? The house on that lot used to be right in the corner on top of the creek, and was moved sometime in the early '50s. Anyway, awesome part two, looking forward to part 3.

Wow! Interesting about the old 7th & I house. Oh yea, I walked with the City's Wetlands & Creeks Committee along the Alliance Road section when they toured it a few months ago, but only used the drone footage for that section. The Committee is proposing to get some grants to return that section to a more natural meander. Part 3 will have more info about the fish and animals who live in the creek. The City's doing alot of research into that (see the Dec, 6 Mad River Union Article "Wetlands & Creeks hears exciting updates" - page 3.)

@@humboldtoutdoors6082 including a new bridge, I hope. Admittedly it's been quite awhile since I've walked there. A nice meander would be awesome! You know the VTS would be eager to help (I'm a member). Cool about part 3; definitely looking forward to it.

What is the name of this beautiful Hindu song? Lovin it! I really am enjoying these videos. Thank you!

The second song is the one I am specifically referring to, by the way. All the music is lovely though.

The songs are listed in the end credits in the order they play. You can probably find them on spotify. Yea - it's fun picking music to go along with the story while supporting less known musicians. Most of the Epidemic Sound musicians are struggling artists, and these are their original compositions.

The 2nd music soundtrack that starts at 40 seconds in is "Jogish" by Pagwan Krishna. The same musician also performed the subsequent music "Lazy Day Trip." We've used his music in a few if our other videos.
