I will say as someone from the American South, that "biscuit" looked dense which is why it probably seemed so bready. Biscuits are supposed to be airy and soft on the inside while scones tend to be more dense. Also we would never normally have a biscuit that size for a breakfast sandwich. Everything looked good regardless :)
@nip9898 Жыл бұрын
You're right except for the size part. Everywhere you order a biscuit sandwich uses a full biscuit. Bougie brunch spots will use biscuits way bigger than that sometimes.

I was literally eating biscuits and gravy while watching this. I am not convinced that biscuit is a true American south biscuit. And the comparison to a scone never worked for me, because the scones I've had have always been much more dense than a biscuit.

Biscuits are not the same as scones!! They’re not even what British call biscuits aka cookies. Lol. Go to the South and get some biscuits and gravy!
@Bookofwords4 жыл бұрын
We're very aware that they are not what we call biscuits... and biscuits + scones are very similar, just a few slight changes in ingredients, e.g. buttermilk not milk, less sugar than a scone
@Bluey3064 жыл бұрын
Josh said "as far as I can tell, like a scone", he never said they're the same thing?? I've eaten both and also know they're not the same. but it's one way to describe a thing if you have to, "it's like [insert thing that i'm more familiar with]."

I feel like English speaking nations have an amazing sense of humor when it comes to names like having the last name Gaylord. Like I can’t imagine when a nobleman from medieval times might think it’s normal cause it might’ve refer to something else but imagine when someone I don’t know plays Skyrim for so long that they begun role playing. “Hello there lad, you new to river wood?” “Yes, indeed it is.” “I see, what is your name if you dont mind saying so?” “ My name is Phillius Gaylord, dovahkin of Skyrim, Patriarch of the Dark brotherhood and Nightingale’s Association, Slayer of Alduin, Master of the Greybeeards, Leader of the Dawnguards, Savior of Sovngarde, a-“ It goes on for like 10 min “………..s-so y-your majesty, w-why you here?” “Fear not I’m on vacation.”

True but if you needed a point of reference a scone is the closest.

They're both relatively basic quick breads. Yeah, a buttermilk biscuit is pretty substantially different, but scones are super similar to a basic baking powder biscuit. Scones usually have sugar in them, though, which I tend to omit from a baking powder biscuit.
