The padres giving an 11 year contract to a 30 year old SS whose numbers have declined the last few years is by far the worst overpay of the offseason. The Red Sox are better off moving story over to short and using the money that would’ve gone to bogaerts to fill other needs

Great info for next season! You do good work sir.. I do have one small piece of criticism.. You said Yoshida (who will undoubtedly be called Yoshi) had the best SO-to-BB ratio you've seen on BB Reference.. Have you not seen Bonds' page on BB Reference? He posted nearly a 6:1 SO-to-BB ratio in 04.. and 02 & 03 are also better than Yoshida's

As a Sox fan, it bothers me how the fans are so upset over Xander. He is over 30 and his contract runs until hes over 40! He is not worth that much money, especially when the Sox have elite middle infield talent in the farm. Not to mention they drafted Marcelo Mayer, who will be our everyday shortstop for the next decade. Xander couldve given us a hometown discount, like many other players before him, who actually wanted to finish their careers in Boston. Sox need Starting Pitching ASAP

You need to look at some older stats... Wade Boggs, 1988, 125 BB vs. 34 SOs. George Brett, in 1980, only had 58 walks (but a .390 batting average), but only had 22 SOs against 24 HRs. He also had 9 triples, down from the 20 he had the year before. Of course, if you could sign someone who could be a Wade Boggs or George Brett, you could do worse. :)

DUDE facts. Whoever is running the Red Sox are fkin up so bad it's laughable. Absolute disaster in the front office right now. Can't believe they really let go of Betts, Benintendi, Renfroe, Schwarber, Vazquez and now Bogey. That's a legit lineup lmao
@TheCybercoco
@TheCybercoco Жыл бұрын
@@stevansanchez9239 Yeah, was pissed off at the Benintendi trade. Not just the fact he was traded, but that he was traded for magic beans (or they might as well have been). We're going to have to call Chaim: Jack. Betts I can't really blame them, since he was insisting on testing free agency. Bogearts is Jon Lester 2.0. They show appreciation by low balling him at the beginning of the year, they don't trade him but they also don't sign him before he goes to free agency. Then they get outbid. They even lost a draft option by staying over the luxury tax after the trade deadline by keeping him and a few other potential rentals for a contender. This front office is a joke. But to be fair, the ownership doesn't seem to care anymore either. They're business people and not really baseball people. They may have gotten 4 championships, but they really need to sell if they're going to remain apathetic and cheap.

Although not a Red Sox fan I’m glad he went North instead of West, especially to any California team. Poor Shohei got stuck with the Angels, a sucky team who’s roster isn’t very diverse at all. It seems the MLB keeps recruiting all these good Japanese players and I can understand why: they’re very disciplined, committed to the sport, always give 100% and you won’t find them running to the mound to fight if a pitcher hits them while they’re at bat. Fighting at a sports game is something you won’t find in Japan. I can just imagine how abhorred they are seeing that in American sports. 😂 I love Yoshida and I know the NPB will miss him but the MLB knows they’re getting a player who was well coached, has good skills, polite and won’t give them problems.

It's not " kinda bad "as a Red Sox fan..It's like a never ending feast of shit at exorbitant prices.

@@dre32pitt Andre our owners spent money..They overpay for the far less effective plan b. If Devers doesn't get inked before spring training he'll be gone too. A great organization doesn't lose its franchise players on a regular basis. At least you had the 70s.

@@christophers.4286 Good points.. The A's just trade their star players when they're about to be due for a salary bump and rinse, repeat.. we resigned Eric Chavez, but he only had one productive season after that and was plagued by injuries.. I wasn't around back then, but I did see them win vs the Giants, which was bittersweet as I root for both.. I have been lucky though.. I've seen all my teams win titles with my own eyes.. A's, Giants, Niners, Warriors..

@@dre32pitt I would argue it's worse knowing the team financially could re-sign players and don't then knowing your team can't afford a franchise talent and eventually will trade him when he gets too expensive.

@@christophers.4286 No argument here, that's the A's way for the last 30 years..
