Love the video. Austin Maddox is the only one I'd never heard of, although I did forget about Selsky until you mentioned him and I forgot that Hinojosa pitched that well. On the other hand, Glenn Williams was one of my favorite long-time minor leaguers and I remember being so happy for him when hit finally got his chance with the '05 Twins. I've also wondered what happened to Merritt and Cromer and why they just disappeared after playing well in limited opportunities. As other people in the comments have mentioned, TJ Rivera would have been a good player to include on this list. Three others worth mentioning are Mauricio Cabrera, Rudy Pemberton, and Rick Short. Cabrera used his 100+ mph fastball to post a 2.82 ERA in 41 games as a rookie for the 2016 Braves and hasn't thrown a single pitch in the majors since. Pemberton hit .336 with a .909 OPS over 134 ABs with the Tigers and Red Sox from 1995-1997 (including hitting .512 in 41 ABs for the '96 Red Sox). Short's big league stint was shorter than the others on your list, but I feel hitting .400 with 2 HRs and a 1.404 OPS is extremely impressive even over just 15 ABs. He was a 32 y/o veteran of 12 minor league seasons when he got his chance with the 2005 Nationals, then never played pro ball in the US again. He finished his career with 4 years in Japan, hitting over .330 twice.

Great video concept. Got another one for you: Troy Neel. Drafted by the Indians in the 9th round in ‘86. Eventually made it to the show with Oakland in ‘92. Played 230 games over the 1992-94 seasons and was pretty good with an .837 OPS and 128 OPS+. Also remarkably consistent, his OPS over those three individual seasons ranged all the way from.830 to .840. Decent power too, 37 dingers and 120 ribbies in 758 career at bats. Career slash line: .280/.362/.475. Done after his age 28 season, which just so happened to be the strike year, so maybe some correlation there. BRef doesn’t say what happened to him, just shows him getting drafted and then being traded to the A’s in 1991. Idk if he’s obscure enough for this category, he did play 230 games but he’s just one of those fascinating guys you come across on BRef and wonder about. Topps also put him on a Future Stars card in ‘93 iirc. And less than two years later he was done. That’s baseball, Suzan.

I met Glenn Williams about 20 years ago. I was playing in a Baldwinsville, NY baseball summer camp when he played for the Syracuse Skychiefs. Our coach told us a pro player was going to come, sign autographs, give us pointers ect. He signed a souvenir Skychiefs bat I had. I distinctly remember him being very unenthused being there, like we were annoying him. He signed for us and then just left. Always left a sour taste in my mouth. Almost glad he was a one and done. Scott Cassidy (Padres/Red Sox) and John Johnstone (Mainly Giants) were awesome, though.

Jeremy Hazelbaker is from a small town about 10 minutes away from my hometown. I played against his high school team twice a year in high school baseball. Hated them, but he is a local legend.

Fun Fact about Hazelbaker. The Cardinals were getting no hit by the Cubs at Busch stadium (Kyle Hendricks was pitching) into the 9th inning Hazelbaker came off the bench and hit a solo HR to not only get rid of the no hitter but the shutout. I also enjoy calling him HazelRaker.

As I Cardinal fan I remember Selsky and I definitely remember Hazelbaker. Haze actually spent the entire 2016 season with the Cards and was DFA at the end of the season.

I know with Merritt there were injury issues that helped derail his career. Anyways, I got a few good ones for this: 1. Jake Fox - the posterchild for why you should not put any stock in ST numbers (guy went bonkers as a journeyman 1B in I think 2011 and made the Orioles roster on Opening Day..... then proceeded to not be worth all that much), 2. Scott Sizemore - 2B/3B who seemed to be on the upswing for at least a bench/roleplayer career but then just bounced between a few teams before fading into obscurity, and 3. Brett Jackson - OF for the Cubs who was a pretty high top prospect in the early 2010s but then went from that to out of baseball in just a few seasons (only remember him because I was disappointed the Rays got Brandon Guyer instead of him in the Matt Garza deal). (oh, and how could I forget Mark Kiger, of Moneyball fame. Got a few plate appearances with the postseason A's in 2006, and then never played another MLB game after that.)

One other guy you can prob put on this list is John bowker even though he played for like 7 seasons in the bigs for the giants and pirates. he only had 202 pa in 97 games; but he did hit 278 with 32 runs, 42 RBI's, and 11 hr, with a decent 857 ops. Triple the ab's and the counting stats and that would be an all star season
