I've always been the type to explore, do every quest, and listen to the story. The speed running concept never crossed my mind until they started showing up in my recommendations pretty recently. Really interesting seeing how differently a game can be played.

Would probly shave about 5 minutes off the time
@Lyk0ss
@Lyk0ss 2 жыл бұрын
@@tristanm8838 I mean, depends on the type of glitches that can only be pulled off on tas, as you can always perform frame perfect inputs, there may be some sort of moment glitch like in some platformer/2d games, holding right then left at the same time, would make you shoot off in a direction lightning fast, so a perfect/low-glitch tas run, may only save ~5 minutes, the game could possibly be even glitched to like 30 minutes if there are some glitches like that

@@TheHippyhopp It is. Every speedrun that is somehow affected by other programms (Be it slowing down the game, doing perfect inputs or RNG manipulation) is counted as a TAS run, it doesnt have to be played by a computer.

@@TheHippyhopp tell that to joltz who calls it one on his pinned comment, plus he lowered the game speed to get perfect inputs to beat the game as fast as possible. Sounds like a tas to me.
@marcosperezomg
@marcosperezomg 8 ай бұрын
@@TheHippyhopp TAS stands for Tool-Assisted Speedrun. While the acronym is commonly used for impressively crafted speedruns where a program is used to play back a series of perfect inputs prepared ahead of time, doing something as simple as speedrunning through the game normally with external programs that slow the game down is enough to make it a TAS as well. After all, you are using a TOOL to ASSIST your SPEEDRUN Only thing that could make it not a TAS is the fact that the run is segmented, but that's just semantics at that point cause then it's just a Segmented TAS.

Yeah BL1 and 2 look and feel very different, with even a lot of mechanics changing between installments (revolvers change completely and get basically limited to Jakobs, weapon brand gimmicks change and get intensified a lot with 2, the tone shifts quite a bit, lots of weapon types are removed (masher revolvers, anarchist SMGs) and added (almost every weapon that banks hard on the brand gimmick). It leads to a fresh experience hopping from one to the other. It feels like 2 was what solidified what the series is, as most of what comes after pulls more off of it than off of 1, but I couldn't call either better or worse.

@@AgentBacalhau it probably has a lot to do with Borderlands originally being developed as a realistic looking game that looked more like Metro or CoD, but then getting changed to the cell shaded style we all know very late into development. Borderlands 2 would have been developed with the cell shaded style so they could spend more time refining designs fitting the style. And then Borderlands 3 just went overboard taking it all to the extreme.
