Joma is the epitome of "hard work pays off" and it really does, talent can only take you so far but if you're talented and lazy you begin to cap off and all the hardworkers behind you will start to catch up and out curve you in skill since you've become complacent in your ability. Always stay humble and have a thirst for knowledge. You are an inspiration and I don't think you know it.

Well to be fair, it's eaiser said than done. It's pretty much impossible to memorize all the leetcode problems. It's true that you will start noticing patterns once you are familiar with them. Yeah, I get what you mean but I still think we need these programming exercies to actually improve our programming logic. My take away on this is that if you can do the hard stuff then, you won't be having a hard time doing the easy stuff. Hey Joma, I watched this multiple times during the beginning of my job search 2 months ago, after being laid off from COVID-related restructuring. You gave me a good way to approach my LeetCode grind. Like yours, my problem wasn't getting interviews; it was passing. After struggling hard and pushing myself, I too started to see the tricks and patterns for many of the problems. Well, I just landed a contract-to-hire job at one of my dream companies!!! And I'm gonna sign up for a daily coding problem service to keep my DS/algo skills sharp now that I know HOW to study, so even if I don't get converted, I'll be ready to interview elsewhere. Thanks for this video man, it inspired me. Happy Holidays, I hope you're enjoying yourself at FAANGULTAD :)

Hey Joma, I just stumbled across your channel for the first time so I'm not familiar with your content, but I did take a peek at your recent videos. You get like 100k views on each video. You've got 277k subs and average 500 new ones a day. When I hear you talk about working for someone, it makes me a little sad. You seem to be on the cusp of taking off on KZbin. I studied engineering physics for 6 years and got my degree, but ended up trying a Kickstarter project after graduating. That Kickstarter blew up and I ended up rejecting my only job offer after 9 months of interviews. It's been 5 years since then and I'm still working for myself and so happy I made that choice. Maybe you need to pay bills in the meantime and KZbin isn't cutting it. Totally understand. But I hope you can maybe negotiate less hours so that you can focus on KZbin and build something that pays your bills while you sleep. The freedom is life changing. All the best, Thomas

Thank you for you every sharing. I'm just a noob step into software engineering field, and entering big tech like FAANG is my target by now. It' really discouraging sometimes, that I couldn't even get a chance for interview. Your point is right, better not strive the path alone. Though I don't have much connections and networks by now, I'll start to try become like you and TechLead. Thanks again for your sharing, hope you best in the future!

Thanks Joma, today will be my first day of new job and I was watching your KZbin since my sleeping schedule was a bit messed up/trying to fix it now. When I was watching your "why I left my ds job" video, I was a bit disappointed because I had a similar ds background as you as I always wanted to become a ml e and I thought I could achieve that one day. but that video made me a bit loss since it requires master/phd for doing the ai/dl/ml. However, after watching this video, i can feel your energy and it light me up as well. My new job is a sde and I think you made me look at this from a new perspective. Thanks again for making an impact!

I agreed with what you said: "the goal should really become the person that others can depend on, no matter it is to solve a software or business problem"

I'm someone who, after 2 years of searching for a job, quit looking and settled. I remember reading CTCA, doing hacker rank, leetcode and finishing the Odin project, but still, felt completely discouraged. Why? Because I would measure my progress by how many interviews I lined up. None. Or, I would compare myself to other people from the stories I read on reddit, or people who would find success after a coding bootcamp. How could someone with a CS degree struggle to do coding problems? Finally, I got 3 job interviews, but because I had not practiced effectively (pride/ego in the way) I just bombed. But this video is really inspiring, thanks for being honest about your journey. Really truly appreciate it.
