Because the have a three headed beast in Soto, Stanton and judge. A mistake to any of those 3 can change the dynamic of a game. Say you walk Stanton and jazz comes up. Even if he gets a hit the chances are high that it won’t be a home run or a single or most likely it will be an out. Play the numbers. The Yankees pitchers can take that risk.

I told him in the comments to get a speech therapist, because he speaks unhealthily and his job is his voice. Jimmy uses his throat muscles to force the vocal cords together instead of using breath pressure and resonance. Lots of people do not speak in a healthy way, but they're not speaking into a mic 10 hours a day every day for years. He's on his way to nodules

With how the skill gap just keeps rising for athletes generation after generation (i.e seeing players from today would absolutely blow the minds of a team from 50 years ago) will we get to a point where every batter in any given lineup is so lethal that walking someone to get a better matchup just becomes a thing of the past? Will there come a time when future pitchers wont be able to make that risk reward calculation anymore?
@JHulse292 ай бұрын
I don't think so, cause pitchers are also super lethal these days. You can see the level of pitching has also been rising, and so far has exceeded the hitters. Look how many strikeouts there are in a game these days. And all the .250 hitters which used to be considered mediocre

I like that you shfited from Yankees fan to baseball fan in this sequence. Do you think it was an absolute mistake pitch, or was he trying to be cute and put it just on edge of the strike zone and was off? The glove was set up well off the plate, with the catcher likely assuming that Stanton might chase, making up his mind before the pitch was started to swing.
