I put an NH36 in my seiko snzg. Just had to swap out the gray movement spacer ring for the black one that came on the 7S26. The I swapped the black day & date discs from the 7S26 to the NH36. Install the dial & hands &... well, you get the point. It makes an awesome field watch into an even MORE incredible field watch with hand winding & hacking. Oh! I also installed a sapphire crystal with purple A/R I bought from Crystal Times. So it's a really bad-ass watch. The only thing my snzg needs now, in my opinion, is a threaded screw down crown. It's possible, but kinda beyond my skill level, experience & tool availability. Just thought I would share this, I don't know why. Thanks for another great video, Jodi!

I now have worn the Citizen Promaster for about half a year, recently got it off the rubber and onto one of those Marine Nationale Style stretchy straps and gotta say, it disappears on wrist now. Crazy how little you can notice a 44mm watch on wrist. It's accurate to about two seconds a month for me, timing bezel takes care of baking rolls, cooking pasta and timing things at work (I'm a bicycle mechanic and have to time certain procedures and soaking times). Love this thing! Absolute steal and just a great watch overall!

The Japanese just constantly killing the budget market! Have to love them!
@kennedymcgovern54133 жыл бұрын
Jason, I don't know how old you are, but I am 51. Because of that, when I was a kid in the 70's, I was watching reruns after school of a show from the 1960s called "The Odd Couple." I remember distinctly when the character "Felix" in that show got a Rolex watch. He was really proud of it, and driving all of the other characters nuts because he wouldn't shut up about it. He talked about it's features, that were "unheard of" by anyone who did not own a very expensive Swiss Watch. It wound itself using your body motion, the second hand was smooth and didn't tick...etc. The point is, all we know today as an "automatic watch" was a new and BIG deal when that show aired in the 1960s. Then the patents wore off. Then the Japanese said "oh yeah...watch this! Watch how we can make that technology inexpensive and accessible, because we didn't have to spend the money inventing it." Now, regular Schmos like me have winders all over our bedrooms, filled with automatic watches. Hand salute to the Nips!

I agree that King Turtle is currently the best value for money Seiko out there - why I bought one (even though I am a well known complainer of Seiko QC on a certain board of seekers). It was the Sapphire crystal that tipped them into being great value. Now for around $500 - $600 you have a watch that matches most microbrand specs with the unbeatable bonus of having an in-house movement and all that heritage behind them. Ceramic bezel and proper ISO certified dive specs a bonus. Taken all together, I think it handily beats 99% of micros. Seikos with hardlex were always a love it or leave it proposition and the more expensive Prospex line watches with the 6R35 are a bit of a fizzle with their niggling QC issues and price rises that have annoyed a lot of Seiko collectors. That leaves the King Turtle and King Samurai in that $600 sweet spot as sensible value with that great and familiar Seiko flair to boot.

Question for you: When people talk about the 'property ladder', they mean that if I buy a less expensive house now, I'll be in a better position to sell it and buy a more expensive house in a few years. The implication is that if I 'get on the property ladder', I can climb to dizzying heights of property ownership. You sometimes refer to Tissot and Hamilton as they way onto the 'Swatch Group ladder'. Do you mean that I am going to sell my Tissot and that will help me fund a Longines? And then I'll sell the Longines and buy an Omega? Or that I've got a Tissot, I like the Tissot, and maybe I'll get a Longines as well?

Great video Jody. I've had several Seiko's but always felt underwhelmed (including the Sarb033/035 which I am looking to flip soon). It's got to be the G-Shock square this time, followed closely by the Citizen Promaster.

Jody, i wonder if you ever thought about a vintage watch review say under $1000 there are some beauties out there, i have a Bulova Astronaut black dial which i think is the best looking watch in my small collection and the movement is something else, when i put it to my ear i can hear the sound of the late sixties spy plane program. There are lots to choose from and lots with a great back story. Great channel by the way

I’m wearing my Casio GD-350 as I watch your very comprehensive list. Next buy for me will be the Casio Ga-2100, GShock. By the way, if anyone gets a Citizen Ecodrive, I know from my time with my Chronograph Eco, it lasted 12 years until the Solar cell/Capacitor crapped out. I will get another, but now I’m building a Shortlist Casio collection

I think I've been watching too many videos from you and the other watch guys in the last years...I have the SNZ (my very first auto), both the Vostok, the Bulova Lunar Pilot, both the Casio, the Orient Bambino and the Citizen Promaster. Clearly I have many more too, but I'm only talking about those on the list...damn I love watches, I am an addict and you are the pusher, ahah!
