Only shot? lol. He is an insanely good wrestler and we haven't seen Tom's ground game. Jones has a 6 inch reach advantage and some of the most unanticipated elbow strikes the UFC has seen. Aspinall has never seen R2. We have no idea what kind of stamina he has. I hope to god Tom wins, everyone wants to see Jon get slept, but discrediting who is probably the most well-rounded fighter in the history of the sport is just crazy.

"I study my opponents extensively" Has a close 25 minute snoozefest "I didnt even train for the fight" "He studies." Thats literally what every fighter does, but as you say later, we havent seen much from aspinal... but we got 10+ title defences of jon to pick apart so i dont think he has much pad on that. "Jons defense" is due to having an average of 8 inch reach advantage over his opponents with 0 threat of a takedown. he also got tagged by reyes for 3 rounds.... tom is literally bigger than jon and faster than reyes. Jon has yet to drop a single opponent with his hands jons first 2 fights lasted longer than toms entire ufc career. Peds? Jon couldnt finish anthony smith in 25 minutes as the "goat" seems like a bunch of cope, but thats just your opinion.
@Siosifa
@Siosifa 3 ай бұрын
These are pretty weak arguments to bring up about the potential fight, and just appears like you hate Jon too much to see his talent objectively. Jon's main game plan in his fights are to wear down his opponents as much as possible, unless of course there is a distinct weakness to their mma where he can finish easily. Which explains fights like Anthony Smith where he isn't necessarily easy to finish, but easier to chop down. So really, finishes aren't everything. If we're talking about their track record, you cannot deny that Jon went up against anyone and everyone, and specifically targeted fighters with high fight IQ. There isn't much of that in the heavyweight division, especially under fights Tom participated in. I'd even argue that the Stipe fight would've been more of a challenge for Jon to take than for him to fight against Tom. Even with older and fatter Jones, you're still going to have a tough time defending Tom with his limited experience in the UFC.

@@Eddie_M16 I actually thought Gane was going to win Jon's last fight considering the huge HW push, which obviously was very silly of me to overlook technique with weight. It's too simple of an excuse to factor in weight or speed when there's a deeper level of understanding mma, especially under ufc. Tom just has yet to fight someone who has a complete kit to their mma, someone who can give Tom an idea of what Jones can do in order for him to prepare properly for that potential fight. So far we've only seen Tom in 2 rounds which is great that he gets the job done so quickly, but in context to those fights, that's just not enough to measure up to a fighter like Jon. I'm not trying to idolize Jon, that's just the nature of when you compare these two fighters objectively.

@@teddystriker ''absolutely, I don’t think Aspinall is going to bring something Jon hasn’t seen before'' Dude, what? Aspinall IS something we've never seen before. Jon's experience? When has Jon ever fought a younger man with world level grappling AND striking who hits like Ngannou (if not harder) and moves like a welterweight at a walk around weight frame of 270+lbs? Aspinall is something nobody has ever seen before. The more you watch the fights of the guys he's beat like Volkov and Pav and Blaydes, the more ridiculous it gets that he was able to do to them what they were able to do to so many others. Look at Gane fighting Tai, then look at Volkov and Pav doing it. Night and day. And Tom did to those guys what they did to Tai. Worse. Name me one time Jon ever did to anyone what Tom has done to Volkov or Pav or Blaydes or Tybura or Spivac. Jon spent 25 minutes failing to finish Anthony Smith. Tom has spent 14 minutes inside the cage/octagon in his entire 18 fight career. Tom is levels above. Not even comparable. Jon can't even see him when he looks up with binoculars. Even with a ton of external male hormone injections, he still isn't half the man Tom is.

Why does everyone lick Jones butt? He is good but not THAT good. - Most of his career has been against inflated middleweights. He almost always had a size advantage over his opponents and struggled with anyone near his own size. - His only win in heavyweight has been against a striker who sucks at wrestling who Jones outwrestled. - he doesn't have knockout power - a lot of his career has been tainted by preformance enhancing drugs - A lot of people expect eye pokes from him In reality, Aspinal would likely outstrike him. He's too quick for Jones and i don't think Jones will risk stand-up. Aspinal wrestling hasn't been demonstrated but Aspinal more than likely will focus on that during his training I dont think Jones will fight Aspinal though. He doesn't want to risk losing. Dude, what?
