Man it's a tough one Jones has beat pretty much everyone.He's fought with the exception of the disqualification.... Although he's had some close fights that he almost lost and maybe one or two that that he might have lost on the scorecard. But someone like kHabib What's so overwhelmingly dominant in ninety eight percent of his fights.. Then you have guys like g s p who change the sport around kind of like a michael jordan. Then there's also if you want to factor in what a role model champion should be jones as far from that. What Dana doesn't understand, in spite of all his apparent adulation for Jones, is that there is no "whole nother level." There is no "greatest human fighter of all time." It's just a human characterstic where we always want "the best" or "the biggest." But there isn't one. Jones is plenty good and his career speaks for itself, but take any human (height doesn't much matter, weight does though) an start training that child at 4 years old. Teach him to love fighting more than anything. Reward him for every win, give him special schooling so his fighting is number one (like tennis players or actors or whatever) and just have him fight. All the way, teach him like 10 major martial arts so that by the time he's 30 he's a black belt or equivalent in every one of them. And, as long as he's the right combination of weight, age, fierceness, confidence; and as long as the general psychology regarding him is that he's a bad ass, he'll win nearly every fight in his peak years and probably around his peak years. Always. And that goes for nearly every male fighter, so long as they start in the right environment. Look at Habib. He's not got some crazy warrior anatomy. Skill wins anyway. Jones isn't [that] good of a fighter. He's not bad. It's just he's been in his prime, has mastered one important kind of fighting (in terms of its effectiveness porportionate to his body's advantages) and has some jujitsu down too. Purple belt, but still. That's it. Mozarts are always coming so long as a human activity is big enough and lasts long enough. This guy's no mozart, not even close. If this shit stays around for 100 years, okay, then you'll see a mozart or two. This guy started fighting on and off here and there at a young age, but helicopter parenting from some genius dad who's been a fighting coach his whole life, plus genetics, plus like 5 mastered martial arts? Nah, not a mozart, sorry. But good. And will likley keep winning for some time. Probably should retire, if he's intelligent. Keep his record, reputation, and accept that by 40, he'll be defeated and likely risk losing his cognitive faculties later if he continues. Regardless, there have been several fights he could have easily lost were the fighter younger or had more confidence or changed approaches. No doubt about that at all. Watch Rampage and you'll see. Rampage just stopped attacking pretty much round one and just stood there. Froze up completely. Rogan was there the entire time saying, "go for the legs, mix it up," and all he was doing was boxing him. Rampage could have beaten him, just psychology. Just an example, but you get the point. All the rest is hype.
