I would like to add my 2 cents in and say , you do have a spinning back kick and a spinning side kick . You also have a spinning hook kick, spinning crescents, axe and whipping kicks . All while turning your back .

Alright I'm gonna get yelled at for this. But the best way to land a spinning back kick is to learn to jump with it a little. Your front foot replaces your back foot and your back foot kicks. If your stance is really square you may want to throw a lead hook or a jab to give an excuse to be more bladed for the second before you throw it. Because starting sideways makes this MUCH easier to accomplish. Also the toe down vs toe sideways is an issue of range. Toe down is shorter than sideways, they both work and you should practice it both ways. Throwing this from closer than people think is possible is a lot of fun.

Do you mean your back foot should replace the front foot? I cant make sense of it the other way around. EDIT: Never mind, I think I understand now

In the first round Jones took Stipe down and was just smashing him and he never recovered. Question. Why would you not turn and give your back in that spot. All the MMA guys see it as bad. But surely you'd rather have them on your back trying to scramble and escape than them smashing you 20 times with elbows.
@kitnomanАй бұрын
Because it’s mma. Giving your back means, giving your opponent access to one of the most effective and easiest submission to execute, rear naked choke.
@mikebassett9195Ай бұрын
@@kitnoman Disagree. Laying on your back is good in BJJ because they can't punch you. MMA your getting smashed with elbows and punches. And in a street fight it's even worse because there is no bell or ref to save you. Your just be getting elbowed until your knocked out.
@kitnomanАй бұрын
@@mikebassett9195 I don't understand where you are coming from. He was asking about why "IN MMA" it's generally bad to turn on all four( facing floor(crawling position) and give your back to your opponent. And it's because opponents will ride your back and you would be open to rear naked choke, which is relatively easy to do compare to other lock or submissions. You could barely hit your opponent when they are in your back and you can only defend by fighting the hand and try to escape the position first. I don't know where you got the bjj, laying on your back or the real fight part, but the question is about giving your back in mma.
@mikebassett9195Ай бұрын
@@kitnoman You don't understand that Stipe was getting smashed to pieces. Laying on his back was not working.
@kitnomanАй бұрын
@@mikebassett9195 And he would have all the more get beaten up going on all fours and giving his back to Jon. Going on all four, means your hand is on the floor, holding your self up or trying to stand up. Which also mean, your head and face is open even for just 2-3 seconds. And that's if you would be able to stand, against a wrestler, which Jon is. How many mma matches have you watch? Specifically, when someone is already in a crawling position? When their opponents continue to punch them and their unable to stand, most of the time the ref stops the fight then and there. Another scenario is they ride your the back. They would still try to choke you or punch you. If your argument is laying on your back is not working. It is at least the lesser of two evils. You have at least all your limbs to defend yourself(no matter how futile). You can even threaten a submission from your back, triangles, armbars, etc. That is why "generally" speaking "all the mma guys" see it as bad. They will try to get up, while facing the opponent or from the side and would only be going on all four as the last option. Look at the previous fight, oliveira vs chandler. That's pretty much the highest damage anyone can do when someone is riding their back. Stand up and slam their opponent and that's a big "IF" they can stand up. But Jon is a wrestler first before a bjj practitioner. Most of the time, he can keep people done. It's a bad example, but a young, big and fresh Ciryl Gane was not able force himself to stand up against Jon.
