Jon Taffer revisiting Terry's Second Base shows that Bar Rescue isn't scripted

He did a bar in my town a few years back. Completely fucked it up and they lost pretty much all their regulars. Took a sports bar that a lot of people went to to watch NFL/MLB/NBA and tried to turn it into a western style bistro. They lost a lot of business and had to revert it back to what it was just to stay afloat. Everyone in the town of Sumner Washington makes fun of it lol
@spectiliaАй бұрын
Yeah, the complete rebrand thing he likes to do only works if there is sufficient customer base to support it and there is like NO other competition in that niche. It is the equivalent of starting a brand new business, which is already really risky and that is without years of bad business debt. Granted, sometimes it IS necessary (especially if the place has a bad enough rep you need to trick people into thinking it is under new management), but I feel like he uses the method entirely too much.

I was a longtime bartender. Just based on the non-metro locations of these bars, lack of customers and therefore ordering. All I can think is they're getting ripped off by a manager or over claiming losses for tax purposes. Losing 20K a month isn't easy.

This, I believe. Like the amount of oversoending needed to get to 20k a month in losses has to be beyond stupid.

Well, I'm almost certain that anybody who has gone into a bar known Taffer. Also, he always makes a proper scene so everyone is aware of what's going on, so it's not like a random ass guy walked up to you and flipped your food. I think he once said that he makes the locals aware of him doing recon at a bar too. It might be slightly edited and staged for the sake of the show, but it's 100% not scripted
