I was the same age as Lomu.. (it's sobering about his passing) but I want to share this.. my friend from school went on an england rugby under 16s tour to NZ when we were kids.. where were all 15.. he came back he was miserable.. he said it was impossible: England U16 were destroyed by NZ "by this freak at number 8" .. he was talking about Jonah Lomu.. RIP Jonah. Even as a kid you caused waves at a school in Hull from the other side of the world. God is good Jonah. Amen.

Saw the biography of him recently, they said because of his long term health problems, which he always had, he was only playing at about 70-80% in his prime. He was also a top athlete in his school days, breaking every record. How scary is that? Such a great loss for the sporting world. RIP.

To think he was asked to stay in NZ because of his illness at the time. The big man still went because he knew he had a gift to share with the world and look at that, tries, try assists, tacklers beaten and a standing ovation. I was at this game but have never seen the footage before - thanks for sharing. As I recall it, the game was played early summer on a week day evening and I'd just finished my exams so I was pissed as a c*nt! Got to say, the Barbarians selectors were having a laugh when they selected such a strong team to play what was a truly rotten Scotland side haha!

As an Aussie supporting the all blacks, I can say that 90% of the reason for it is Lomu. Having met him in the mid 90s. I even had his hairstyle. Lomu is the best of the best ever. The real GOAT.
