In his 58 minutes on the pitch, Barbarians wing Jonah Lomu humiliates Scotland scoring 4 tries and passing twice after going over the line to allow others to get on the scoresheet as well. The big man left the field to a standing ovation from the Murrayfield crowd in May 2001, having embarrassed Cammie Murray and Chris Paterson who simply had no answer to his rampaging runs down the wing.
0:00 - Just a couple minutes into the game, from turnover ball 90 metres out, Lomu outpaces Cammie Murray on the outside to score the first try.
0:19 - From more turnover ball from 65 metres out, the Barbarians spread it wide to Lomu who hands off Murray who goes too high and he goes in for his second try.
0:33 - Again more turnover ball, from 55 metres out Pat Howard chucks the ball to Lomu who fends off Murray and Chris Paterson to complete his hat trick.
0:55 - A fourth try results from turnover ball as the Barbarians pass it to Lomu for a canter to the tryline but the big man decides to give the score to Richard Cockerill instead.
1:16 - After Marcus di Rollo drops the ball, Lomu has a run from 60 metres out and steps inside Paterson to score his fourth try, all from his own half.
1:35 - The Barbarians launch a counter attack and Lomu gets the ball from 65 metres out and brushes off Paterson and James McLaren and then again gives away his try, this time Joost van der Westhuizen.
1:59 - The ball is chucked out to Lomu and he gives di Rollo a giant handoff and gets past Murray and John Leslie before passing to Adrian Garvey.
2:14 - When Lomu is subbed off at 58 minutes, he gets a big cheer and standing ovation from the Murrayfield crowd.

Compared to the modern day nutrient pumped hulks, he'd be average. Back then, rugby hadn't evolved into meat vs meat, it was a game of speed.

James Small didn't need a bat in RWC 95... None of these Scottish defenders has proper angle or tackle technique. Against top class competition, Lomu struggled. He wasn't the best under the high ball, and was himself something of a defensive liability. I'd have played him as open side flank.

@@bolshoefeodor6536 He would of been wasted at no 6 because of his pace. He didn't struggle against top opposition he ran over most teams. he didn't score against SA but he drew 4 tacklers every-time which meant Cullen, Wilson and Umanga had field days because of the space he created. He was ill for a significant part of his career which meant he couldn't play at his potential for long periods. At his peak he was simply the most devastating player in Union history.

The only ones who could tackle Jonah effectively were James Small and Joost (Springboks). The man truly was a freak; a monster on the field, blessed with size, power and athleticism we will probably never see again?! Off the field he was a humble ambassador for his sport and an all-round great human being. RIP Jonah and thank you for the absolutely unforgettable moments your presence provided us!
