As a Christian, I have read this story many times, and it's one of my favorites. One thing about it that isn't really clear until you research the history of Nineveh. The city was near the Tigris River, which connects to the Persian gulf, and one of their chief gods was a fish god. So picture it from their perception. A large fish, the avatar of their god, appears and vomits up a prophet who declares doom if they don't repent. I find it a hilarious example of God's sense of humor.

They are worshipping one of the 4 end time fallen angel in charge of all the waterways. While here, they have their fun and trick humanity into worship them as gods. Prayers are energy, heard, felt and desired by these entitites. Its food to them and they grant your desires until your soul is emptied. This is why angels are NOT to be prayed to, but one may pray to the Father to send angel if needed. All heart energy goes to the Father as instructed by His Son.

Seems to me that the fish god may have just been passing on its way to the place that fish and alligator gods rest. It would be rude to just let the Hebrew drown and for the Torah to be even more confusing, so Fish-god swallowed the bloke and vomited him back up to continue his quest. All very plausible.

Spiritually is meant to be a simplistic thing. This is why God says we must be innocent as a child to reach heaven. The moral of this story is God places a calling on some of our lives. Which means we must walk accordingly to his direction. When we go off our path we will find ourselves somewhere not desired. It will be known to even others and ourselves that something is wrong and off. Alone, without direction....until we seek him and give ourselves to him...willingly.

I definitely appreciate the insight you brought to the story, the moral part was really instructive, nonetheless, both stories happened in two different timelines. Jonah was sent to Nineveh 760 BC, and Pharaoh's story happened around 1370 BC, meaning that, if Pharaoh was the king of Nineveh during that time, he should have been quite old, 610 years old to be precise , what we know for a fact is impossible.

Hamlet I do agree with you, the time frame doesnt match, being studying th book for years, and also, Jonah also thought Nineveh people simply dont DESERVE as they are way too wicket to take heed of the good news... Insight to consider. As I read the part Where Jonah was writing about his experience and saying how the waters "Engulfed me to take my life; the watery depths did surround me" "The seaweed wrapped around my head" "as my life was fading away I remember the Lord..My prayers went up to you to your holy Temple" Jonah drowned & had a near death experience. God sent the great fish to swallow his body so the fishes if the sea did not consume it. Then when Jonah's spirit came back into his body..the great fish spit him out. Jonah had been given a whole new revelation about Nineveh

Please help me understand the timeline, connecting Pharoah being King of Nineveh, and after the passing of Moses (new generation of Jews entering and taking over the promised land)... Leading up to the life time of Jonah. During which period of judges was Jonah living in? Or was Jonah alive when Joshua was leading Israel?
@angelgcastro13 жыл бұрын
This is not true, pharaoh was not the same king of Nineveh! this is according to the midrash and has not biblical authority but only an ancient commentary of the Hebrew Scriptures with many fallacies ! Regardless how nice this story may have been articulated!

The truth is often difficult. Exactly which part was fishy? Enlighten me why the statement regarding when Moses and Jonah lived, as written by the double headed eagle person, matters. The idea of thinking for yourself and never going along with the group is the real story you all want to be awoken to. Look around at the world today because there is no better time than now to understand this before the true story becomes part of your world. Stop following anyone that says something that your mind states is more interesting. Start seeing the condition your are in best called Head Forward by Chiropractors. It is when the mind is permitted to make all your decisions. The fact that those thoughts and stories are not who you are should absolutely be extremely important. The thoughts in your mind are not from you. They are illusions that through many years of programming you have become to believe is who you are. How can such a thing occur? Hahahaha. Well look at just this one comment and how many jumped on without stopping long enough to consider huh, why does it matter when they lived? Exactly what portion of the story he is telling requires you to flip over and find what seems like a pious man telling a story which has many subtle hints about life to toss it out the window because someone with an exciting two headed eagle logo states otherwise. If someone said that this man was not in Ethiopia when the plague was more prevalent in Kabal would that also make you sit up and take a different attitude? Pizza is yellow red and tan and is made of blood. There is another one. I need to associate it with some other nonsense first though as it's not relevant unless I make a fool of myself. Stop following and see the mind for what it is. The mind is not who you are. The mind is nonsense and has the actual remnants of your true self scattered all around it. You are not those thoughts. You are your HeartSpace and it is only there where you want exist. This is your true self, your soul. Stop giving away your power. Take it back by using your mind for new creations. Imagination is what makes Mankind different than any other species but brainwashing is simply repeating something enough until the mind adds that idea into your subconscious. The training of the mind was done in the school system and you were trained to be exactly what you are, good slaves. Yet the choice is always available to wake up right now. It will require work and take as long as it took to get into this mess to get out. It is your job and do what is right as together we are unstoppable. Good luck. You must lead yourself to freedom and that is not done listening to morons that literally make no point since the story never put them in the same boat. So simple to control.

Pharaoh wasn't just ONE MAN. There was a long succession of Pharaohs who ruled over Egypt. Pharaoh was a title borne by many Egyptian rulers over a long period of time, NOT a single person like Nebuchadnezzar or Cyrus.

According to the Scriptures, Jonah lived some 800 years after Pharoah from Egypt.. and at this point God already declared man wouldn't live more than 120 Years (Gen. 6:3). So..you're saying Pharoah was over 800 years old? I would say you're wrong and God is right. Also no where in Exodus does it say that Pharoah survived or didn't go into the sea with the rest of his soldiers. Stay with the word of God, and not the Talmud and other "Ancient writings".
