@@rudyv.7198 Yes. But you can’t just go by color now a day’s. You have to know your history very well. You see, light skin Jewish people are as legit as dark skin Jewish people. They are Jewish people who migrated to Europe centuries ago and were known for trading good’s, but they also were good at other types of skill’s as well, such as blacksmiths and Carpenters to name a few. I mean it’s common sense, if you live in an area for centuries where all the native people are a certain race. You are going to have to mingle with the native’s of that race sooner or later, wether it’s for business or even marriage. It happens with all groups of people that move into a land that is foreign to them. So that’s why their is Jewish people who are White today and plus just because they are light skin and lived centuries in a foreign land, doesn’t mean that they didn’t keep their values and faith. They even suffered greatly because of it by the hands of others who were ignorant and stereotyped them for hundreds of year’s. Some Jewish people were even forced to abandon their faith and convert too other faiths or they would be killed. Then the Nazis where the worst because they just killed people indiscriminately, but they targeted the Jewish people the most because they used them as a scapegoat too blame all of Germany’s problems on them. So please do some research before you judge people solely by the color of their skin and with all that said, may God Bless everyone.

I have a little problem with this teaching, where the rabbi insinuated that there were Egyptians who joined the Israelites when they left Egypt. Is there any historical write up or authority to back up this claim? Or is it a present day prophetic revelation? Which as a Jeshuah Hamaschiach's follower, I can still accept this outrageous claim. I must confess Rabbi Manis that I enjoy your teachings, but at the same time, I m scared it may be misleading, because it errs away from Torah's original straight words. Your interpretation deviates from original text. You cannot add or remove from the scripture. Pls comment on this and asure me you are not manipulative. And how msny non Jews have you converted to Judaism. I m an Igbo and believe that Igbos are Israelites.

Good observation. I wish you will also regard the pastor's sermon to equal criticism. This is necessary because all of them are men and not witnesses of the biblical accounts. So the correct attitude towards teachings of God's Word should be that of filtering backed by personal study of the scriptures and inspired understanding by the Spirit of God. So just do that. Filter, and hold onto that which is true.

Kile, there is religious division, some big, some small and all kind of different denominations and that need not make you sad. It works better that way. With room to make minor adjustments, that gives people a way to be part of the bigger group and still feel that they are expressing their own path. That's how we still have Abrahamic faiths, although the three of them have differences. Kosher and Halal are close but different. No meat on Friday for Christians. None of these three "big divisions" prevent the grandchildren of Abraham from belonging to his family.

I am Korean. I have Hebrew Tanakh and the Bible translated into Korean and English(NIV), and I have read both Korean and English version but not the one in Hebrew as I can't read Hebrew. However, now I wish I can read the Torah in Hebrew. English(NIV) translation has written as below: When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, "Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him." Aaron answered them, "Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me." So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron. He took what they handed him and take it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, "These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt." When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, "Tomorrow there will be a festival to the Lord." Moreover, in Korean version, it clearly states that "Aaron took what they handed him and take it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool." So, both Korean and English translation indicate that it was Aaron who made the golden calf with his own hands. Now I want to know what my Hebrew Tanakh says.. It will be a long journey to achieve, but I wish I can read Hebrew Tanakh someday. 🕯🙏🕯

My Torah specifically says Aaron “fashioned” and “molded” the golden calf. See Exodus 32:4. The story of the gold making itself into a golden calf comes from Aaron’s account to Moses in verse 24. Either Moses lies to us in verse 4, or Aaron lied to Moses in verse 24. And given that whole chapter shows Aaron was a pushover and had no backbone during Moses’s absence, I would say Aaron’s account doesn’t have much credibility, and I would trust Moses’s account in verse 4.

The idea for something being thrown into a fire or water to get an idol can be seen in other historical accounts outside of the Torah. The understanding that has been proposed by scholars who have studied the procedures described is that the priests would fashion the idol, and then make this declaration to the people. So, perhaps Aaron and the priests followed this process, which would explain the differing description.

The way of God was to difficult for the people, they suffered because of disobedience. So they created the golden calf (a way) which will take the responsibility away from them. Now they can eat and play. I say they went to a casino and gambled their life away because the majority of them died in the desert.

In Islam, it was not Aaron, peace be upon him, who made the calf, but rather a person named Samiri who made the calf for them. Aaron advised them not to do so, but they did not listen to him and he was unable to stop them. Aaron was a prophet. He did not tell them to worship a calf. This person called Samiri was the one who deceived them because the Jews at that time did not know God well, so Samiri took advantage of that. Rather, there is an event that occurred when the Children of Israel crossed the sea, and it is mentioned in the Qur’an: And We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and they came upon a people who devoted themselves to their idols. They said, “O Moses, make for us a god as they have gods.” ۚ He said, “Indeed, you are an ignorant people. (138) Indeed, these are disgraced by what they are in, and what they used to do is void. (139) He said, ‘Is there a god other than Allah? Do I seek your god?’ He preferred you over The two worlds (140) Samiri paid attention to this and the opportunity was right when Moses went to speak to God in the mountain. He took advantage of the 40 nights during which Moses, peace be upon him, was absent, which is enough to make a golden calf. What added to the deception was that the calf was hollow. When it was completed, air would enter through some of the openings in the golden calf and emit sounds.

Exodus 32: 1"So the people gathered around Aaron and said to him: “Get up, make for us a god who will go ahead of us,b because we do not know what has happened to this Moses, the man who led us up out of the land of Egypt.” --Clearly they wanted to replace Moses with some God. Exodus 32:3 "So all the people began taking off the gold earrings that were in their ears and bringing them to Aaron". --Calf didn't just appear, he fashioned it with tools Exodus 32: 8 ‘This is your God, O Israel, who led you up out of the land of Egypt.’” --The Israelites said that to Aaron It goes on to show that Jehovah trusts those he puts in charge and takes their word as important and considers what they say individually. It also shows that God is a god of order and Judgment and decides what goes. They were heavy rectangles geeez, tomato tomato....Are we really going to start calling them cubes?

Yours, sir, is the best explanation I've heard regarding a question that always baffled me since childhood: "Why did the Israelites ask to make the Golden Calf?" The only short answer I found was that miracles don't always do the job of swaying non-believers like we see in Elijah's wager against the prophets of Baal in 1 Kings. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.” 2 Aaron answered them, “Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me.” 3 So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron. 4 He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, “These are your gods,[b] Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”

What's interesting about this story is that God sent Aaron AS the prophet of God- which he was by calling from God- to God- for God and God sent Moses who was called from God - to God- for God as a prophet of God and was sent LIKE God to pharoah- the golden calf was made from the jewelry God allowed them to have from their enemies- and their enemy never hesitated -people mention the story of the Exodus like Aaron wasn't much of a participant -like Moses went alone- Aaron spoke for Moses while God told Moses what to say to Aaron- both being blood brothers physically and spiritually- then Marian a natural sister and sister in the Lord cursed with leprosy for her antics against Moses while Moses allowing to have leprosy on his hand after putting it on his chest under his clothing for a lesson in the school room of the Holy spirit There is not a line in the writ of script that can't be expanded on and deeply should God allow- I was allowed to SEE this in the spirit

This is why religion is just a game. The Rabbi mispoke. He says “a golden calf has never happened again”, incorrect, see 1 Kings 12:28, “Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.” KJV. That occurred after Mt Sinai in the biblical kingdom periods and the Torah attests to this idol worship in many instances. See 2 Kings 17:7-16 and 2 Kings 21. Sorry Rabbi, but we don’t like misinformation...

This is very interesting. This narrative differs greatly from the Quranic Narrative: [ Allah ] said, "And what made you hasten from your people, O Moses?" He [Moses] said, "They are close upon my tracks, and I hastened to You, my Lord, that You be pleased." [ Allah ] said, "But indeed, We have tried your people after you [departed], and the Samiri has led them astray." So Moses returned to his people, angry and grieved. He said, "O my people, did your Lord not make you a good promise? Then, was the time [of its fulfillment] too long for you, or did you wish that wrath from your Lord descend upon you, so you broke your promise [of obedience] to me?" They said, "We did not break our promise to you by our will, but we were made to carry burdens from the ornaments of the people [of Pharaoh], so we threw them [into the fire], and thus did the Samiri throw." And he extracted for them [the statue of] a calf which had a lowing sound, and they said, "This is your god and the god of Moses, but he forgot." Did they not see that it could not return to them any speech and that it did not possess for them any harm or benefit? And Aaron had already told them before [the return of Moses], "O my people, you are only being tested by it, and indeed, your Lord is the Most Merciful, so follow me and obey my order." They said, "We will never cease being devoted to the calf until Moses returns to us." [Moses] said, "O Aaron, what prevented you, when you saw them going astray, From following me? Then have you disobeyed my order?" [Aaron] said, "O son of my mother, do not seize [me] by my beard or by my head. Indeed, I feared that you would say, 'You caused division among the Children of Israel, and you did not observe [or await] my word.' " [Moses] said, "And what is your case, O Samiri?" He said, "I saw what they did not see, so I took a handful [of dust] from the track of the messenger and threw it, and thus did my soul entice me." [Moses] said, "Then go. And indeed, it is [decreed] for you in [this] life to say, 'No contact.' And indeed, you have an appointment [in the Hereafter] you will not fail to keep. And look at your 'god' to which you remained devoted. We will surely burn it and blow it into the sea with a blast. Your god is only Allah, except for whom there is no deity. He has encompassed all things in knowledge." Thus, [O Muhammad], We relate to you from the news of what has preceded. And We have certainly given you from Us the Qur'an. [Quran, 20:83-99] We, as Muslims, do believe that the Quran, the final revelation, was sent down to clarify the teachings that were distorted, by the corrupt scholars, in the previous books [Torah, Gospel, etc.] Thank you for the explanation. I would like to recommend that you read the Quran, and perhaps these stories will make more sense to you and your viewers.

Also, a little side note: We strongly believe that Propeht Aaron (peace be upon him) had nothing to do with the calf. Aaron is a Prophet of Allah and would never do such a thing. We also believe that Samiri was the person who caused the people to deviate. We believe that Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) broke the tablet out of anger, and also that Prophet Moses would never belie Allah or be in disbelief over what he says. We believe that the people, like I said earlier, were led astray by Samiri, and took the calf as a god, and not as a leader. We believe that Prophet Aaron was appointed as the leader. Lastly, we believe that Prophet Muhammad was the final Prophet and Messenger sent to the whole of humanity [the Jews and non-Jews]. The Quran is the final revelation that is a light and guide for humanity, and a clarification of the distortion that is the other books, and a confirmation of the message of the previous Prophets and Messengers. I do strongly recommend you to read the Quran.

Exodus 32:10 And he received the gold from their hand, and he fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made a molded calf. Aaron did make the calf.

Exactly! Why does the Rabbi explain it like it was done by egyptian sorcerers? I don´t get it?

@@lindvallolle Because he wants to lessen as much as possible the Jews direct guilt of an act against God by attributing it to the influence of non Jews, perhaps. The thought that the Jews could have done such a blasphemous act all by themselves upsets or disturbs him. I look forward to second opinions from other religious leaders to clarify this issue - were the Jews solely responsible for this act or were they victims to the influences by outside sources?

Exodus 32:4 states he took earrings from them and "fashioned" it. The word fashioned does not mean he created an image of a calf. It meant he meshed the earrings together

@@mtalk828 Either way, the point is that Aaron did it, not the riff-raff from Egypt. Sadly, this man is twisting scripture, or more pointedly, blatantly lying about scripture. I don't know why or what he stands to gain from it, but what he says is just not true.

@@jeremiahzeiset - Again, righteous Aaron of blessed memory, did not create the golden calf. Exodus 32:4 states he took earrings from them (the multitude) and "fashioned" it. The word fashioned here in Hebrew does not mean he created. It meant he meshed the jewelry together to stall them from their evil intentions. In addition, in verse 24, Aaron explains to Moses that after it was "fashioned together" by him, he threw it into the fire. But ... to his surprise, out came the golden calf. He was not lying. In Exodus 12:38, it shows us a mix multitude indeed, coverted to Jewish monotheism and came out of Egypt with the Hebrew slaves. This mix multitude had gold in their possession to make idols. And it so happened coming from Egypt, verse 24 gives us a hint of satanic sorcery was involved in the creation of calf. Please read carefully before condemning. Do you speak Hebrew? Can you study the Torah like the Rabbi can in his native tongue??? Regards 🙏🏽

A great leader argues on behalf of the people? So a great leader would rather believe the people than God? Nonsense.

Thank you Rabbi for this teaching. I did have one question if you don’t mind. If the tablets were two cubes that filled the Ark of the Covenant, how did Aaron’s rod that budded flowers and almonds fit in the ark for the time God instructed it to be there?
@ColorFun4Me

The tablets were not cubes. The rabbi is injecting his kabballah theology. It involves using mystic interpretations. The Torah says tablets not cubes. Cubes hold a mystic symbology. The Rabbi means well but do your own Torah reading.

Rabbi Friedman, you are the best achaeologist in the world i know. The thing with the cubes one commendment on each side, that is brilliant. Archaeology is "the teaching of the origins". That s what it is. Thanks a million times for that lession.
