Lifters Need to be heated (softens the tar/oil ) then sqeeze them in a Vise (carefully) the heated oil dribbles out like water...and they begin to be freed up. Follow by an overnight immersion in Laquer thinners to Fully dissolve the crap in the lifter's check valves.

I did few similar setups but using the Block of the B234 E/L/R and the B234 Head gasket. The B234 head gasket is way more tolerant. One of these engines is my daily NG900 with 150000 km since the build. For the hydraulic tappets, I start with pressing them to extract the old oil, dump them in cleaning fluid for 24 hours to completely dissolve the old oil and press them with my thumb in an oil can to inset some oil into as a priming lube. I prefer to assemble the camshafts after the cylinder head is tightened to the block, thus not risking the valves. Also, the best "stock" camshafts to use are the B204 I/L / B234 E/L/R. The T7 engine behaves much smoother with them. I always delete the balance shafts. Their contribution to the engine is so small, they consume power and are very sensitive.

Hello! I'm agreed about the tapets, is what I knew about them. Can you elaborate more about the sensitiveness of the balance shafts?
@orenkipnis70584 жыл бұрын
@@juancarloslozano3374 Balance shaft chain is very small and the balance shafts rotate the speed of the crank shaft. the tension guide and the tensioner itself are smaller than those of the camshaft chain. A torn balance chain may lead to a camshaft chain failure and a total destruction of the engine. A tensioner failure will result in a sudden loss of the oil pressure. A balance shaft chain which "jumps" n a sprocket will lead to terrible vibrations.

@@orenkipnis7058 and the unique function is no have vibrations in the mid range where usually the four cylinder engines have them, but there are many people that delete the balance shafts and no have any appreciable difference. Because, for example, the WIS already said that by under of 1800 rpm the effect of the balance shafts in very small. In low revs is most important the good condition of the engine mounts.
@vank42054 жыл бұрын
In my opinion many of ghe people that have vibrations is because they don't balance pistons and rods, and they no have the crank and rods bearings in good condition. All these things combined produce vibrations.

Great work on the piston balancing, but the conrods really should have been end weighed to balance them. Usually material is taken off the gudgeon pin/small end as well as the big end. This is because the small end sits inside the piston and it doesn’t matter how balanced your pistons are, if your small ends are all different weights the engine can’t be balanced.

Hi jonas, so 1.1mm off the t5 pistons and no issues? What gasket are you using with that combination? Im in process of building my 2002 93 coupe. Bottomend has decided it wants to leave the chat 😂 and destroyed the main caps of the b205 block. So plan is to either put a complete t5 234 (rebuilt engine) with gt3076r. Or the other case is b234 block pistons rods and crank and t7 head.

All that work, so why not use good forged pistons like Wössner or JE? The T5 pistons are durable but heavy. Good pistons would seem to make a big difference. Factory pistons are the biggest issue with Saab engines.

Hi body!! Se can you build my Saab to 350hp?
@jstephan034 жыл бұрын
Watching you smash the tappet (lifter) made me cringe. They should be disassembled to be properly cleaned. The orifice is so small, you'll never get the carbon buildup to come back out of the hole. Best method to clean the tappets and disassembly that I've found: Using an air nozzle, inject air into the tappet if it has lost its hydraulic pressure. Take a small strap wrench and wrap the tappet. Find a block of wood and drill a pocket in it that will allow the valve to pop out. Smack the tappet onto the block of wood fairly hard until the 3 pieces of the valve come out (casing, valve & spring). Keep adding air into the oil port as necessary to help pop the valve out. Then and only then can you get these things clean.
