I can't "thumbs up" this hard enough. Thank you for getting out there and putting in all that effort; the tent, the meal, both of them high on the difficulty scale. And that's before you add in filming, editing and clean up. I enjoyed it a lot. Full kudos dude!

FYI...... soaking the chicken in the milk for a certain amount of time will not help in the flavor of the chicken. You might as well soak it in the chicken and immediately add the flour and you will get the same result. The only time marinating meat for a while works is if you use something such as garlic and lemon because the acitity of the lemon breaks into the cell of the chicken and that is why even certain seafood can be cooked partially with lemon. But, milk and eggs are proteins and proteins do not break down the protein of meat unless you marinate it for hours. Meats break down in any liquid after a while. The best combo to marinate meat with is lemon, garlic, onions, and cayenne sauce, and put on the entire meat (cut part of the meat skin to the side to coat the actual meat for balanced flavor). If it's a chicken leg pull the skin down to the heel without completely removing the skin. If it's chicken wings don't bother removing the skin.

If you use buttermilk and soak the chicken over night it really does make a difference. Buttermilk is naturally acidic, not too much but it is

Thank you for the huge effort in this one! While I feel awful for you having to set everything up, then take it down (while wet) it was so wonderful to watch your cooking with the sound of rain on the tent. What a cozy atmosphere! And the walk in the morning, the snowy river... Much of it must have been wonderful!

Nothing like chicken and waffles in the rain! Such a cozy meal to warm up the bones on a cold evening. There’s something to be said about cooking and camping videos. It almost takes us back to our primal ways when food and shelter were the only necessities to survival. Cheers friend!

I have suggested this to another KZbin guy who built a camper on his tiny truck in Japan 🇯🇵, all of you camping cooking guys should put together cookbooks. People still like to collect coffee table books and this subject would make a good camping/cooking one. Your tent is killer. My dad got an old military canvas tent in the 80’s that stunk like hell but it was bulletproof. We had to clean it out every year for trips. Never forget sweeping out that monster.

The meal looked so good, you put a lot of work into it. When you put the tent up it was so cozy in there with the 🌧️ rain coming down while you were cooking, but honestly all I could think of was how much easier it would have all been with the Slumber Queen. Don't forget to unroll and set up the tent again soon, so it can dry out before mildew sets in. Fun video, 👍

Your video is so inspiring to get out in all kinds of weather. And being whole food plant based that fryed chicken made my mouth water. But you made me gasp when you flipped the jackery on it's side and then you left it on it's side all night. I believe that somewhere in my past I was told that was a no no for batteries. And the box it cam in had this side up. I could be wrong I'm not a machanic. But I know what I paid for my jackery 1000 . Great videos 👍 keep them coming

I'd love to see a Gordan Ramsey reacts to Jonathan Yentch Chicken and Waffles. lol By the way we all know cooking with oil in a pot is dangerous and we are very careful not to spill it but it's also very dangerous for fire. I had a pot catch fire and it was insane. Basically, I turned the element on high to heat the oil quickly but my element can get super hot and it's not limited like a deep fryer. So distracted by my computer just a few feet away the oil got to the smoking point. By the time I smelt it is was nearly on fire. I turned off the element then poof it was on fire!!! I covered the pot with the lid but the flames were still shooting out the side. Luckily it was a strong metal pot with glass lid. I was able to grab my oven mitts and hold the lid down as I moved the pot outside into the parking lot where it smoked for about an hour. It was crazy. Real lesson learned. I still cook with oil in pots and pans but never leave the element on high. Anyways, I feel I have to share this story as much as possible now.

Perhaps you should look into putting a coating on your canvas tent, in order to make sure it does not become quite so water logged and saturated, and gain so much weight. I've watched quite a few videos where people applied various kinds of coating to all kinds of materials, but for canvas the preferred coating seems to be silicone, at least on youtube. You can look up a bunch and see if it looks like something you'd want, and make a vid about the process yourself. Using silicone or the waterproof glue from the 'poor mans fiberglass' school of DIY, to oilskin coatings, would no doubt add a bit of weight to the tent even while dry, but any of the above should pretty much guarantee no water can really get into the fibers and add the absurd amount of wet weight you dealt with in this vid. The silicone method seems to be the easiest and has the shortest dry time, as the glue looked like it averaged 48 hours per cure, and the oilskin treatments seem to take weeks to months, to cure. Or if you decide to just leave the canvas as is and not treat it, that's fine too. You don't seem to want to bring it out every time you camp, and as such you probably don't need to make it water proof. If you do want to take it out, especially in a rain forest in the PNW, some sort of coating would probably save you a lot of time and effort, in the short and long run.

Thank you for going the extra mile to make a great video, the tent and making dinner was brilliant but taking the tent down almost made it a 2 person job. Do you have space to dry it out later? In my area leaving the food out over night is not a good idea. The dang bears are already out and the raccoons don’t ever hibernate, can’t even put trash out until our pickup day. Love seeing wildlife even in our residential neighborhood but it takes some planning for outdoor cooking.
