Good morning Johnathan, I’m completely new to SIM flying and the navigation aids are somewhat perplexing at the moment. I found your site by chance, your videos that explain and demonstrate many of the common Garmin systems are excellent. Thank you for sharing your knowledge in such an informative manner. In addition the demonstrated airmanship of many of your videos is an inspiration.

This is really simple and straightforward, thank you. MFS encourages not to learn about the aircraft because the fuel supply is already on, etc., so that beginners can take off in a couple of clicks. But I needed a more detailed explanation and I got it, thanks.

Really great tutorial. Just a tip to the commenter, this usually happens to me if I spawn in on a runway or somewhere the plane should be started. Or maybe it’s an assistance setting?

Hi, the segment of video on the localiser and glide slope contains many errors showing that you're not actually au fait with the correct method. Once the localiser is ACTIVE press appr. This will select the glideslope. The GS symbol will be white unless it has been engaged then it'll turn green once engaged. Once the loc and GS are green you don't touch any controls apart from throttle to reduce speed in the descent. The AP will handle everything else. Once at minimums or whenever you wish once runway is visible, disengage AP for manual landing. What also important is to intercept the localiser heading way earlier . You can engage both loc and GS a far greater distance earlier by turning to 30° from loc heading, press appr and allow the loc on AP to turn onto runway to fly it in. Leaving it late as you did results in flying through the GS as you discovered. You did well to re intercept the glideslope but you then disengaged it thereby losing AP control over the descent. Please don't see this as criticism but as one aviator to another with some constructive comments. All the best.

When using a VOR you will be flying a radial to or from a VOR station. Beacons are associated with NDB's, nondirectional beacons. The ADF (Automatic Direction Finder) radio is used to tune in a radio beacon. When using an ADF you will fly what is known as relative bearings. Very specific language is used when using radio navigation, I hope this helps when describing the use of these navigation aids.

Hi Jonathan, is there any difference between entering a flight plane in the MS world map and in the cockpit as you video shows?.

Thank you for the great explanation, now I have 1 question when I am outside the plane then I see information in the corners in 3 different instruments, how can I remove that so that I only see the plane without the instruments.

Hi Jonathan Thanks a lot for your video. Whats the hack to plug in a route directly from LNMap into the G1000 rather than manually programming it?
@jonbeckett
@jonbeckett Жыл бұрын
In the map screen of MSFS, go to "more", then load - you can load a PLN file. After doing that, the aircraft will be pre-programmed with the route.

Sorry I'm a total novice flight sim, but how do you so freely look around the cockpit like that? I'm getting my instrument rating at the moment and plan on getting flight sim and trying to learn all the tricks and tips! Thanks!

Hold the right mouse button down, and you can pan the camera with the mouse. The cursor keys will let you slide the camera from side to side. If you re-map the up and down keys, you can slide forwards and backwards too :)

I thought you are not supposed to turn on electronics until the engine is on... to avoid electricity spikes that can damage the electronics? Correct me if I am wrong.

Why did you not pull the throttle back once in the horizontal cruise. Caught a glimpse of 2750 rpm, in the red.
