The beauty of Bandai is that they are more or less clip together, making it easier to use thin superglue instead of plastic cement, thus eradicating the bug

My own Big Stompy Chicken suffered with the dreaded enamel rot, it was with MIG oudourless enamel thinners, same problem as yours, got into a joint and the leg fell off, a few drops of super glue later and it was standing proud again. Nice video, thanks 👍

Hi Jon, I am watching this again to add to my weathering skills. At 19:40 you mention using VMS Oil Expert in place of turpenoid thinner. Or do I add a few drops to the turpenoid?

It's actually either/or. The more of the VMS you use, the faster it dries. I tend to use all VMS when I'm off camera just because it dries faster. But, it is more expensive than odorless turpenoid, and if you're not used to handling oils/enamels, the faster drying time can work against you. My recommendation if you're comfortable with the process is to try a 50/50 mix and see if it suits you - understanding that the flexibility window will shrink. With straight turpenoid you may be able to rework oils for 12-24 hours. With all VMS, that window may go down to a few hours depending on type of oil, application thickness, etc. In terms of how each product functions, it's same/same. HTH! Thanks John!

Hi good day! May I ask what PSI do you set for the white highlights around 3:00 to 6:00? I noticed you have the same badger airbush as mine

I generally work around 18-20 psi with any airbrush work. I may drop it down for really fine detail lines, but in this case I'm pretty sure it would have been my "standard" 18-20 psi. Experiment around though and see what works best for you. Thanks for watching and commenting!

How long do the oils take to dry?

[@JonBius]

I'll have to give a politician's answer... it depends. Generally, to make sure they dry quickly, I apply the oils to a cardboard "palette" and let the oil paint leech out as much oil as possible. On some modeling specific brands they're already quite dry. Then I make sure to thin the oils as much as I can and still get the application I want. I like to add some VMS Oil Expert, which helps them dry. If I'm really pushing the envelope, I can keep drying time to a minimum... say 4-5 hours. But I do not recommend that unless you're entirely comfortable with all of the chemical interactions for later steps. With thin applications of oil, overnight, or even better 24 hours, is sufficient. Test it out with the oil paints and thinner you have on hand, say on a spare old kit, and just see what your results are. It can vary widely based on paint brand, application method, and the thickness of the application. I hope that helps! Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
