I think I'd give em more than a C, but maybe I am partial to the 7th ID patch! Awesome tie in to the old figures and original red pattern. Got to love some real military influences filling in the lore gap. The blue uniforms remind me of some Soviet WWII tanker jumpsuits I've seen modeled.

Thanks so much for watching to the end and commenting! I am grateful! I didn't go to Ord - ended up at Bragg eventually. But there were so many cohorts going through Benning at that time - whole companies of them. As soon as I saw that circle and knew I wanted to red on it - that patch came to mind. Specifically for my buddies Beercan and Bolton! :D It is fun to add in some real military lore I think. Thanks again!

@@JonBius of course! Thanks as always for sharing. I will be honest- I missed part one of this series with the tracks. But I've just seen the teaser image and the rust/rubber work you did looks excellent!! I think those results are certainly applicable across the board from SciFi, wargaming, and military modeling. Going to check that video out now. I love your wide range of hobby interests and skills, I'm looking forward to broadening my horizons with more SciFi and wargaming work.

@@BrailleScale Thank you! I try to make sure that the techniques I recommend are applicable across a wide range of genres. Those tracks were fun to do! Be sure and keep an eye out in the coming weeks. I plan to do a series that's basically a look at several techniques in depth. In many regards, the model that will be used is almost irrelevant. (But hopefully it will be fun!)

@@JonBius I'm sure it will be fun! And I love that concept. Despite still thinking of myself as an "armor modeler" I've learned A LOT watching you and other KZbinrs that may infrequently, if ever, put together a classic armor kit and instead focus more on SciFi, Aircraft, figure, wargaming, etc. the list goes on. But I am trying more and more over the last few years to see modeling as a single unified hobby. More of a "best in show" kind of mentality compared to the traditional IPMS categories and sub categories. That is one thing I love about the internet and social media. For all the bad- at least all these traditional niche interests and specialties that had evolved in their own little bubbles back in the day are now all readily available to the student. So I really like and support the idea of being more "multilingual" when it comes to the hobby.

Do you need a more powerful magnifier set up for character painting?

Also being able to get the biggest impact out of the least work for figure paining is a really useful skill especially for army painting.

The magnifier I have is pretty much maxed out without giving me a headache... I tried a more powerful one, but it quickly headed me in the direction of a migraine! 😯 They need to make bigger minis... 😂
@Grifftrogg Жыл бұрын
@@JonBius Yeah that doesn't sound fun. I know I'm gonna be ruined if I need more than glasses. I just can't used to the aim under a magnifier... I can't even point a pair of binoculars in a useful way never mind for mini painting.
@JonBius Жыл бұрын
@@Grifftrogg Yeah, it is odd. Sometimes I'll be thinking I should be getting paint on the model, and then shift my view a bit and realize I'm half an inch away!

Why are you feeling so blue? Great video. I have a few issues with figure painting. I have nerve damaged in my right arm so I tend to shake, but it has gotten better with painting in a vise so I can just use my left hand. I have glasses(just for model making) and magnifier visor too but the headaches are real bad after 2 hours.
